This Week in our Parish Apr 30, 2021

Fifth Sunday of Easter

May Month of Mary

In the month of May, we honour Mary, mother of the Church. To celebrate this special month, the Caloundra parish Intercession/Prayer Ministry is committed to praying to Mary to intercede for the prayer needs of the parish, community and the world.

You can send your prayer request to caloundracatholicparish.net/prayer-request/

The prayer petition boxes would now be available in every Hinterland and Coastal parish community starting this weekend.

Invitation

At OLR, the Rosary Prayer Group will be reciting the rosary after every weekday mass during the month of May.

All welcome.

If you can’t join them in the church you are invited to pray the rosary with them via the live streaming immediately at the conclusion of Mass.

Mass Count

Every five years the Australian Bishop’s Conference conducts a Mass count across Australia. Over the four weeks of May this mass count will take place. With the Covid-19 restrictions still in place across the country, the results of the Mass count this year will provide the demographers with a unique picture of the Church in Australia. The good news for us is because we are using the Eventbrite booking system for Mass we already have an accurate Mass count (that is why it is important to register on Eventbrite if you are going to Mass in May).

Baptism Preparation Evening for Infants

Those parents with new born babies wishing for them to be baptised are reminded of the preparation meeting which takes place at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Caloundra, this Thursday 6th May, beginning at 7pm. At this short preparation meeting we outline some of the symbols used at the ceremony, answer any questions and confirm dates. To book in for the preparation evening and to receive the necessary paperwork please
contact the Parish Office on 5430 9390 or email [email protected]

The Journey Begins

This weekend a group of children from our Parish and their families began their formal preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation which we well celebrate on Wednesday, May 26th. Confirmation is the second sacrament of their initiation into the Church of God. It is a wonderful opportunity for parents and children to renew their faith; to discover God who is present in all we do. Let us welcome and pray for them especially during their journey of preparation.

Ladies Lunch

The Ladies Lunch is starting again on Friday May 21st at 12 noon at Three restaurant. Unlike before we need to know numbers. Please contact Deborah 0410531901 by Monday May 17th if you would like to attend.

Maleny Catholic Ladies Group are hosting a High Tea for the Cancer Council Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea on Friday 7 May 2021 commencing at 10.00am, in the Pat Daley Centre, Maleny Catholic Church, 45 Cedar Street Maleny. Weekly Update 2021 NET Team

This week has been a busy start to term two, our team has been getting back into the groove of visiting classes and getting to know students around the school and during their break times. We got involved in the ANZAC day ceremony held on Friday and are busy preparing events like our recently formed young adults’ group. We followed on from Father Josh’s talk about the history of the bible with some discussion lead by Rhea about the early chapters of Genesis.

GET VACCINATED FOR THE COMMON GOOD

COVID-19 is a morally good thing, providing protection for the person vaccinated and the wider community. Some COVID-19 vaccines are associated with ethically questionable production and research practices, but Pope Francis and the Australian Bishops have advised that it is morally permissible to receive any vaccine made available. More information is available at www.catholic.org.au/coronavirus
