Meet Maria Colwell

How long have you been a parishioner?

I worked as a Teacher Librarian at Our Lady of the Rosary Primary School, and ever since I started teaching there in 1990, I’ve been a parishioner at OLR.

Where is your place of worship?

8.00am Sunday Mass at the Good Shepherd Centre at Kawana.

What is your favourite prayer/devotion?

The Hail Mary Prayer.

Mary’s act of faith, with her unconditional “yes”, and seeing her only Son suffer through a most dreadful, unspeakable agony at the foot of the Cross and still embrace the many trials and difficulties of her journey and stay faithful, is truly inspiring and helps me relate to her as a Mother.

She models the life of the disciple and to give oneself completely to God.

What is your most important practice in ‘living your faith’ as a disciple?

Giving gratitude to God every day; and just asking Our Lord how I can serve him – be His hands and feet – and do my best to serve him in everyone I meet.

Would you like to share your experience of God’s love?

I think just knowing that God is always there in good times and in bad, and that his love for us is always faithful; His presence… helps you get through life!

What do you most enjoy about being a part of this parish community?

Our community is more like a family – A big caring family who look out for each other!

Faithful Servants is a regular feature of the ever-present ‘servants of the faith’ across our local parish community.

Please email Bernadette Bain, if you would like to nominate someone for this feature.
