New Mass Roster
After a thorough consultation and discernment process which spanned 3rd November–8th December, and which included counsel from Archbishop Mark, members of the Archdiocesan Episcopal Council, and Fr Peter Brannelly, Dean of the North Coast Deanery, my Senior Leadership Team and I can announce the new Mass roster to commence on the weekend of 18th/19th January 2025.
Saturday Vigil
Priest 1 – 5pm Caloundra
Priest 2 – 5pm Aura (Notre Dame)
Sunday
Priest 1 – 7.30am Caloundra
Priest 2 – 9am – Landsborough/Maleny
Priest 1 – 9.30am Caloundra
Priest 2 – 5pm Aura (Unity Chapel)
9.15am – Currimundi Gardens Retirement Village (Fr Terry Nueva)
10.30am – Southern Cross Care Retirement Village, Little Mountain (Fr Terry Nueva)
- The 6.30am Mass (Caloundra) and the 8am Masses (Unity and Kawana) will be invited to join the new 7.30am Caloundra Mass congregation.
- The Beerwah congregation will be invited to celebrate Mass at either the 5pm Aura (Notre Dame) Vigil Mass or 9am Landsborough/Maleny Mass.
- The new Aura (Notre Dame) Mass will initially commence in the Unity Chapel to train the launch team (15-20 parishioners who will commit to this mission field) until Easter 2025, when we will launch this Mass to Notre Dame/Aura families within the College buildings itself.
- Mass will be celebrated at Landsborough on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Sundays of the month, and at Maleny on the 2nd and 4th Sundays.
- No community will be unaffected – even those whose Mass time/locations have not changed – since it will be every person’s responsibility to ensure that no parishioner feels like a stranger in their own parish.
May the peace of Christ be with us all at this time as we await the joy of Christmas.
Fr Josh.
Dear Fr Joshua,
Thanks for the information about the proposed changes to the Mass schedule in Our Lady of the Rosary parish, Caloundra in 2025 which has been prompted by the reduction from three to two priests in the parish.
The consultation process you have undertaken has been important. I appreciate that you are seeking to provide sacramental services accessible to new and expanding residential areas. It is unfortunate that expanding urban areas and fewer priests require a reduction in services to some communities, even if it seems that reasonable access is still provided.
I trust the various parish communities will understand and support the changes you propose. In the meantime, as we move towards the feast of the Saviour’s birth may the God of peace bless you and those entrusted to your care.
As always in the Lord,
Archbishop of Brisbane
