We Are Celebrating Many Clean Cars!!
On behalf of all the students and young adults attending this year’s Ignite Conference in September school holidays, I would like to say a big THANK YOU for supporting us both financially and with your prayers. At $300 each, the four-day Conference is incredible value for money and includes meals, transport and accommodation. As well as the car wash and BBQ at OLR this Sunday, the NET Team sold slushies at Unity College on Tuesday and Wednesday this week – raising over $350. We also have a Bunnings BBQ coming up on Saturday 11th September, just before the Conference. It feels good to have a sense of ownership over the cost of our tickets but we thank you for your help! Kath Ball – Parish Young Adults Coordinator
P.S. If you would like to and are able to fund the cost of an entire ticket please contact Fr Josh as there are several students’ parents who don’t have the means to send their child to Ignite Conference – [email protected]
Ministry to the sick
We are calling for people who can assist and serve in ministry/Communion to the sick, in our nursing homes and hospitals. If you would like to serve in any way, please put your contact details on the forms in the church or email the Parish office on [email protected]
Annual Catholic Campaign
Thank you all for your generous donation to the Annual Catholic Campaign last weekend. The campaign recipients – the Retired Priests Fund, Centacare, Mary MacKillop School Access Fund, and Holy Spirit Seminary – are indeed worthy beneficiaries of our generosity. This weekend we are still accepting cash donations in envelopes or you can simply scan the QR code below using your phone’s camera and go straight to the secure online donation portal. Thank you again for your generosity.
This week we had the opportunity to run two fundraisers for the upcoming Ignite Conference which Unity College and our parish are sending up to 30 students to over the school holidays. Our team was really excited to see how successful the first fundraiser went, and we decided to do a second one that we hadn’t expected to do the next day. It felt good to see God working for us, helping us work towards our goals for fundraising and slowly making opportunities for us that we never expected. It’s important to recognise the things that God has put in our lives, when they come unexpectedly or not, and to be thankful for what he provides for us. We will keep all of you in our prayers. God bless, The NET Team.

Each year, the Archdiocesan Vocations Office produces a high quality magazine called Vocare (pronounced Vo-car-ay) – Latin for “to name or call”. Vocare is an acknowledgement that it’s God who calls us to discern his plan for our lives. This year, the magazine is accessible online. Please use this link to access the digital magazine https://tinyurl.com/vocare2021.
“Meet Me in the Middle” – This retreat is based on Charles Peguy’s Little Girl Hope from the book: “The Portal of the Mystery of Hope.” Hope is both a virtue and a mystery. It is desirable yet elusive. Many dismiss it, misunderstand it, shrug it off and turn their backs on it, extolling faith and charity instead. Whilst faith and charity are absolutely critical in these times of uncertainty and fear in society, there is now a need for hope as never before since World War II. This online retreat which will be available from 5 September 2021. Fan the Flame Towards Plenary Assembly One October 2021
‘This people honours me only with lip-service, while their hearts are far from me.’
Unless we train ministers capable of warming people’s hearts, of walking with them in the night, of dialoguing with their hopes and disappointments, of mending their brokenness, what hope can we have for our present and future journey?
