Final Encounter Night for 2021

Encountering the Person of Jesus in an extraordinary way is a fundamental aspect of Christian faith that is sometimes missing from our Catholic focus. Indeed, this sense of ‘Encounter’ can be lost in the repetitional beauty of the most explicit form of Encounter in the Eucharist at Mass. This year we’ve celebrated two successful Encounter nights in the parish and so, before our NET Team and their beautiful music ministry, depart, we will be putting on another evening of hospitality, testimony, worship, Reconciliation, and prayer ministry.

Encounter: 3 will commence at 5.30pm on Wednesday 10th Nov at OLR church, and run for no longer than two hours. For catering purposes, please RSVP to Vicki or Eileen at the front desk by the end of business on Tuesday 10th Nov. We look forward to seeing your smiling faces.

Fr Josh and the Encounter team.

Book Of Remembrance

The start of November is only two weeks away. The two great feasts of the church, All Saints and All Souls, fall on Monday, November 1st (All Saints) and November 2nd (All Souls). This weekend at all our Parish churches you will notice our BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE and you are invited to take a moment to record the names of your loved ones who have gone before you marked by the sign of faith. November is traditionally the month that we remember and pray for the dead and our BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE will be placed in the sanctuary and will be the focus of our prayers during this month.

Thank You from the SVDP Good Shepherd Conference

Our recent fundraiser was a huge success with $7190 taken over the three days. This amazing result is due to the support of so many people, those who kindly donated items, those who generously gave of their time to help set-up, work over the 3 days and pack-up and to the many who came and purchased books, plants etc. We sincerely thank each and every one of you. These funds will go a long way in allowing us to assist those in need of a hand up especially in the lead up to Christmas.

It has been another difficult year for so many families. Your ongoing support is always greatly appreciated.

Thank you again and well done everyone.

NET Update

This past week we have been working particularly with our Young Adults. One of the main things that we did was go to Brisbane for a Masterclass about youth ministry. At this event, we gathered with youth leaders from different parishes around Brisbane and Sunshine Coast. They had a guest speaker who spoke about the importance of community. This reminded me of how important the work is that we do as a team. When running events we are creating a community for these young adults and students. We want everyone to feel loved when they come to our events.

God bless and have a great week, the NET team.
