Launch Of Online Platform For Those Enquiring About The Catholic Faith
Catholic Christianity is an online initiative aimed at reaching those who might be enquiring about the Catholic faith. This project features a weekly podcast and video presentation that systematically walks listeners on a journey toward faith, addressing everything from how do we know there is a God, to why the Church’s moral teachings can actually be life-giving and compelling when properly understood.
Join Deacon Peter Pellicaan PhD on a journey through the teachings of the Catholic Church, explained in a way that is inspiring, challenging, and easy to understand. Episodes will be released weekly.
Over the first season, the following topics will be covered:
- The Truth about Truth, Science and God
- Natural Revelation: Does God exist? (part 1)
- Natural Revelation: Does God exist? (part 2)
- Special Revelation: Can we trust the Bible?
- Special Revelation: What’s the overarching story of the bible?
- Did Jesus really rise from the dead?
- If God is powerful and loving, why is there so much suffering?
- Why Christianity? What about other religions?
To listen to the podcast, visit your preferred podcast streaming platform. To watch the videos, visit the Catholic Christianity YouTube channel, or head to the Catholic Christianity website at catholicchristianity.org. You’re invited you to share this resource with your family and friends, as well as those on a journey to or deeper into the Catholic faith.
Masses for All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day
This Monday, November 1st, is the feast of All Saints and the following day is All Souls – two very important annual occasions that poignantly remind us of our mortality, and the purpose of our own lives; they cause us to reflect upon and pray for those who have gone before us marked with the sign of faith.
Our Mass times on All Saints’ Day are: Caloundra 9am & Caloundra 5pm
Our Mass times for All Souls’ Day are: Caloundra 9am & Maleny 9am
This weekend at the entrance to all our churches you will discover our parish BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE and you are invited to inscribe on the pages the names of your loved ones and friends who have gone before you.
As a faith community we will remember them and pray for them in our November Masses. May their souls, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the rich mercy of God, rest in peace.
In spite of Covid, there have been many new arrivals to our community. If you believe the press, once the borders are open, there will be an even bigger influx of southerners moving here to enjoy our sunshine and lifestyle.
They are all welcome.
In such a busy community it is easy to arrive, sit in a pew and before you know it, become part of the furniture without us acknowledging and welcoming you to your new Parish Family. On the other hand, I am sure there are members of our community who have been with us for a while but have never been officially welcomed. If you have just moved in or have been here for a while, we would like to welcome you to the Parish Family by inviting you to a Welcome Cocktail Party on the balcony of the Caloundra Presbytery on the evening of November 25th from 6 to 7:30pm. Simply email your names and contact details to the parish office — [email protected] — which will enable us to send you an invitation and assist with catering. On behalf of the entire Parish, we look forward to welcoming you.
The Mission’s Office would like to thank each member of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish for once again generously supporting the annual Mission’s Appeal. Unfortunately last weekend there was a shortage of Appeal Envelopes in several of our communities. If you would like to support the work of Catholic Mission there are extra envelopes at the entrance to the church simply place the envelope in the collection basket and we will forward your donation to the Mission’s Office. Thank you once again for your generous support.
Final Encounter Night for 2021
Encountering the Person of Jesus in an extraordinary way is a fundamental aspect of Christian faith that is sometimes missing from our Catholic focus. Indeed, this sense of ‘Encounter’ can be lost in the repetitive beauty of the most explicit form of Encounter: the Eucharist at Mass. This year we’ve celebrated two successful Encounter nights in the parish and so, before our NET Team and their beautiful music ministry, depart, we are offering another evening of hospitality, testimony, worship, Reconciliation, and prayer ministry.
Encounter: 2021/3 will commence at 5.30pm on Wednesday 9th Nov at OLR church, and run for approximately two hours. For catering purposes, please RSVP to Vicki or Eileen at the front desk via email — [email protected] – by the end of business on Tuesday 9th Nov. We look forward to seeing your smiling faces. Fr Josh and the Encounter Team.
The monthly Baptismal Preparation session is on Thursday, 4th November at Our Lady of the Rosary church beginning at 7pm. At this meeting we not only look at the implications of being baptised and the significance of the symbols during the celebration of the sacrament but it is also our chance to answer any question or concerns. Further details about the meeting are available by emailing the Parish Office [email protected]
If you are interested to come along to next months luncheon, the ladies are meeting on Friday the 19th November at Pelican Waters Tavern, 38 Pelican Waters Blvd.
If you would like to attend please contact Deborah by Monday 15th 0410531901 so she can confirm numbers.
This coming Sunday afternoon Kim Kirkman, the Inspiration Choir, and orchestra will present ‘The Messiah’
This will be an experience not to be missed. We have a couple of our Maleny parishioners singing in the choir. With the onset of COVID, it became extremely difficult for professional musicians and singers to make a living, and indeed for choirs to get together and sing. This is a wonderful production, and we would love to share it with you. Please come and join us this Sunday, 31st October at 2.00pm at the Maleny Primary School Hall, Bunya Street, Maleny.
Tickets are $20.
You can book on line at www.trybooking.com/BTYHX or, you can purchase tickets at the door. Hope to see you there.
Message From Fr Chukwudi Chinaka
Dear friends in Christ,
I hope this finds you all well. I will like to use this medium to let you all know that after a few years of study and ministry in the Archdiocese, the time has come for me to return back to my home diocese in Nigeria. I will be leaving for Nigeria after Christmas. I will like to thank you all for being a part of my story in the Archdiocese of Brisbane. I had a great time with you during my time with you as one of your Associate Pastors (December 2016 to December 2017). So many of you have become not just friends but family over the years and have followed my progress through my places of ministry (even in the bush). So thank you all. I hope that we will still keep in touch somehow.
As it is quite impossible for me to go around and say goodbyes, my parishioners and I will be having a 10am Thanksgiving/Farewell Mass on the 20th of November at St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School Nanango. Feel free to join us on that day or you can take this as my way of saying; ‘thank you’, ‘God bless you all’, till we meet again! Please pray for me as I will do the same for you all. If you intend to attend, can you please advise our Parish office via [email protected] or 0741625121.
