Thirty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time

Book Of Remembrance

This month of November in all our churches you will discover our parish BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE and you are invited to inscribe on the pages the names of your loved ones and friends who have gone before you. As a faith community we will remember them and pray for them in our November Masses. May their souls, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the rich mercy of God, rest in peace.

The Feast Of Christ The King

Next Sunday is the feast of Christ the King, the last day of the Church’s year. Bishop Brian Heenan will celebrate the 9:30am Our Lady of the Rosary Mass. At this Mass we will welcome into full communion with the Church: Paul Howard, Brendon Reynolds, Deanna Reynolds, Emily Noyes, Sara Gowing, Stephanie Rees and Brandon Wilesmith. There has been a journey of preparation which has led them to this day and as a parish we share their excitement. A warm invitation is extended to all parishioners and friends to join us next Sunday and support the candidates. As they are welcomed into the Church it is a timely opportunity for us who are already members of the Church to be thankful for the many blessings we have received from God.

Aura Catholic Community

On Saturday evening last week, parishioners from Aura gathered together for dinner and discussion in the old coffee shop at the Baringa Sales Centre. We are preparing to sign a two year lease to use the old coffee shop as a mission base until the new Prep-12 Catholic school opens in Nirimba in Jan 2024. Gathering in this new location represents a significant step forward for the nascent Aura Catholic Community. It will offer the opportunity to not only celebrate Masses, but to develop a physical footprint from which to go out to those who are not yet connected with their faith. If you live in Aura and would like to know more about the mission before us — to create a missionary-disciple-centred Catholic culture — please email Fr Josh: [email protected]

Bunnings Sausage Sizzle – Next Saturday 20th November

Enjoy a gourmet delight and support  the Caloundra  St Vincent de Paul Society by purchasing a sausage at Bunnings.  All proceeds will be used in the Conference’s Give A Child A Chance program that assists families to access education and training.  Enquiries contact Bernice on 0434 226 335.

Taizé Prayer

In the monastery at Taizé, short mantra-like songs create a relaxing style of prayer. As the words are repeated, their reality gradually penetrates our whole being. Singing becomes a way of listening to God. The simplicity and repetition allow us to wait attentively on God. This is a prayer of watching, awakening and listening. It is very much in the spirit of the Advent Scriptures. Come and relax in this beautiful prayer at OLR or Maleny on Tuesday 7th Dec both at 7pm.

Ladies Lunch

If you are interested to come along to this month’s luncheon, the ladies are meeting on Friday, 19th November at Pelican Waters Tavern, 38 Pelican Waters Blvd. If you would like to attend please contact Deborah by Monday 15th November 0410 531 901 so she can confirm numbers.

You Are Welcome

One of the virtues we strive to cultivate in our large and diverse parish community is to be welcoming. Many people who worship in our community are fortunate to know others and to be known by others – it’s what helps us feel like we belong! There may be, however, people who feel like strangers in our midst so we need to work hard to ensure we do our best to connect with them and make them feel welcome. This is something we can all work deliberately towards and it starts by asking a person’s name.

If you have moved into the parish recently – or even been here a while – we would like to invite you to a Welcome Cocktail Party up on the balcony of the Caloundra Presbytery on the evening of Thursday, November 25th from 6 to 7.30pm. Please let us know you are coming by emailing the parish office – [email protected] – and bring your family. We look forward to officially welcoming you to your news parish family.

Message From Fr Chukwudi Chinaka

Dear friends in Christ,
I hope this finds you all well. I will like to use this medium to let you all know that after a few years of study and ministry in the Archdiocese, the time has come for me to return back to my home diocese in Nigeria. I will be leaving for Nigeria after Christmas. I will like to thank you all for being a part of my story in the Archdiocese of Brisbane. I had a great time with you during my time with you as one of your Associate Pastors (December 2016 to December 2017). So many of you have become not just friends but family over the years and have followed my progress through my places of ministry (even in the bush). So thank you all. I hope that we will still keep in touch somehow.

As it is quite impossible for me to go around and say goodbyes, my parishioners and I will be having a 10am Thanksgiving/Farewell Mass on the 20th of November at St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School Nanango. Feel free to join us on that day or you can take this as my way of saying; ‘thank you’, ‘God bless you all’, till we meet again! Please pray for me as I will do the same for you all. If you intend to attend, can you please advise our Parish office via [email protected] or 0741625121.
