You Are Welcome
One of the virtues we strive to cultivate in our large and diverse parish community is to be welcoming. Many people who worship in our community are fortunate to know others and to be known by others – it’s what helps us feel like we belong! There may be, however, people who feel like strangers in our midst so we need to work hard to ensure we do our best to connect with them and make them feel welcome. This is something we can all work deliberately towards and it starts by asking a person’s name.
If you have moved into the parish recently – or even been here a while – we would like to invite you to a Welcome Cocktail Party up on the balcony of the Caloundra Presbytery on the evening of Thursday, November 25th from 6 to 7.30pm. Please let us know you are coming by emailing the parish office – [email protected] – and bring your family. We look forward to officially welcoming you to your news parish family.
Farewell for Lyn Miller
The following farewell speech for Lyn Miller was given by Les Townsend at Beerwah Mass on Saturday 30th Oct 2021.
As a parish, we thank Lyn for her many years of service and wish her and her family peace and blessings in this next season of their lives.
Tonight, we farewell one of our energetic and hardworking members. Lyn, would you like to come forward.
To those of you who don’t already know, Lyn and Brad are off to Narangba to be closer to family.
Now Lyn has been a very active member of this Parish and is one of those willing workers who the community comes to depend on.
Not knowing a lot about Lyn’s community involvement, I had to consult some of you and many thanks to Estelle.
Now in a short space of about 12 years, you certainly didn’t let the grass grow under your feet. I can understand now why you’re moving. I hope some of this new available time is spent on Brad and family.
I won’t go on and list all you have been involved in as I can see some nice goodies up the back that I know you’re all keen to get to.
But I feel I must make mention of a few from which you will be sadly missed.
There is the Chaplaincy Program; World Day of Prayer; Lavelly Lodge; Piety Stall; and you’re a great fundraiser! I have also been informed that back in the early days, you were involved in the soup luncheons and the Bring and Buy stalls.
I, personally, was impressed with the prayer cards and bookmarks you used to make and hand out on special occasions, such as Father’s Day or Mother’s Day.
Lyn, as one who prepares the rosters, I am not impressed with the exodus of your willing workers through moving on or through falls in the past few months! (Joke)
Lyn, you will be missed in our community. Please stay in contact and you have all our best wishes for the next chapter in your life.
Now a little birdie has told me today is your birthday, so a big Happy Birthday from all of us. Now if I could sing a note, I’d start off the Happy Birthday song so I’m hoping one of you out there can get us started.
Thanks Lyn. Please accept this small gift in appreciation of your involvement with us in our parish community.

Fr Dang
For the past twelve months we have been blessed with having Fr Dang with us and sharing his extraordinary story of faith. Currently Fr Dang is on leave from his Augustinians order while he discerns his priestly journey as either a diocesan priest or continuing as an Augustinian. During this time of discernment experience is important! After Christmas Fr Dang with move to another parish for another experience of diocesan priesthood and ministry. Hopefully next week we will be able to share where his new appointment will be and who will be replacing him. In the meantime, as a Parish Family, we continue to be grateful for Fr Dang’s gentle presence and witness in our midst.

Book Of Remembrance
This month of November in all our churches you will discover our parish BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE and you are invited to inscribe on the pages the names of your loved ones and friends who have gone before you. As a faith community we will remember them and pray for them in our November Masses. May their souls, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the rich mercy of God, rest in peace.
Taizé Prayer
In the monastery at Taizé, short mantra-like songs create a relaxing style of prayer. As the words are repeated, their reality gradually penetrates our whole being. Singing becomes a way of listening to God. The simplicity and repetition allow us to wait attentively on God. This is a prayer of watching, awakening and listening. It is very much in the spirit of the Advent Scriptures. Come and relax in this beautiful prayer at OLR or Maleny on Tuesday 7th Dec both at 7pm.
