One Of Our Parishioners Is Serving With NET Ministries In 2022

Hi, my name is Verity, I’m 19 and one of the young adults in this parish. With Fr Peter’s support I am serving with NET ministries in 2022 and am raising money to help cover expenses. My goal is $6400 which may sound like a lot but I will return with new ministry skills to give back to this community. This year I have helped out leading Kids Club at Sunday Mass and youth groups on Friday and Sunday evenings. I’ve also been working as a shift supervisor at KFC and I’ve been studying a dual degree in Nursing and Paramedicine at ACU. I am planning on putting some of my own money into the year ahead and am humbly asking for your financial support in this too. If you are in a position to financially support me, you can copy/click on the link below that will lead you to a secure sponsorship page. Thank you in advance and God bless, Verity.

Proposed Building Work

Beginning on Monday December 6 there will be some disruption to the entry of the OLR church, from the north entry stairs and ramp. The covered link between the church and Parish Centre will be cornered off to allow demolition of the covered walkway to commence. Repairs to the north church entry, disabled ramp and walk way, which has two damaged posts and their connecting beam, will be replaced with new timbers.

Shortly after this work is completed it is proposed to have the concrete paved area from the car park to just before the now demolished covered link, replaced by a new concrete slab. This will also mean that this area will be cornered off with safety fencing. Entry to the church will be via the front doors for approximately 5 to 8 working days. Please note the ramp will not be available at this time, we apologise for the inconvenience. It is hoped that both these projects will be completed before Christmas.

A Special Invitation

In the month of December, we are often so busy and stressed with final events for the year – not to mention preparations for Christmas! Our parish is offering a special evening of quiet prayer in the style of Taizé. Short mantra-like songs create a relaxing feeling that refreshes us in body, mind and spirit. Through gentle repetition, the meaning of the words gradually penetrates our whole being. In song and silence we listen more deeply. These simple chants allow us to wait attentively on God. Such prayer is very much in the spirit of the Advent Scriptures. Come and relax in this beautiful prayer at OLR on Tuesday 7th December at 7pm OR at Sacred Heart Church, Maleny on Tuesday 7th December at 7pm

St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal

Next weekend is the annual Vinnies Christmas Appeal. Sadly, there really is “no room at the inn”  for many of our local companions in the Caloundra Parish communities. With your kind donations we can provide assistance in two ways. Firstly, with emergency support, including accommodation and secondly with some Christmas cheer in the form of gift cards and hampers. The OLR conference will only be supplying gift cards while OLGC will do a combination. Please note there will be no collection of groceries or gifts at the OLR church. These can be dropped off at the shop on Mayes Ave. Envelopes will be provided on the pews next week at all Masses. Thank you for your ongoing support.

Advent Gospel Reflection

This weekend, do something special this Advent to prepare for Christmas by joining us at 10.15am for a Gospel Reflection following 9am Mass and cuppa in the Pat Daley Centre. We will finish by 11.15am All welcome.

Baptismal Preparation

The monthly Baptismal Preparation session is on Thursday, 2 December at Our Lady of the Rosary church beginning at 7pm. At this meeting we not only look at the implications of being baptised and the significance of the symbols during the celebration of the sacrament but it is also our chance to answer any question or concerns. Further details about the session are available by emailing the Parish Office [email protected]

We pray for Kevin Brandon who died last week, Joan Kunkel who died last week and her funeral was on Wednesday.

We also pray for Susan Jacob who died last week and her funeral will be at Maleny on Monday. May his soul and all the souls of our deceased priests, religious and parishioners Rest in Peace.
