Pope Francis’ New Year Resolutions

A few years ago, a list was compiled from Pope Francis’ most popular teachings and quotations to form his most popular New Years’ resolutions.  Here they are:

  1. Don’t gossip.
  2. Finish your meals.
  3. Make time for others.
  4. Choose the “more humble” purchase.
  5. Meet the poor “in the flesh.”
  6. Stop judging others.
  7. Befriend those who disagree.
  8. Make commitments, such as marriage.
  9. Make it a habit to “ask the Lord.”
  10. Be happy.

Office Closure/Mass Changes

To take advantage of the post Christmas period and to allow our administrative staff some of their  annual leave, the Parish Office will be closed from 24th December, 12noon until 9am, 10th of January 2022. In case of a pastoral emergency you can always contact a priest through the parish emergency phone 0431099854. Over this week, please also note our Mass changes.

St Vincent de Paul Conferences say “Thank you

Members of the our five very active Parish St Vincent de Paul conferences – OLR, Kawana, Landsborough, Maleny and the Vinnies shop, Our Lady of Good Council, on Mayes Avenue, would like to thank all parishioners and friends for supporting this year’s Annual Christmas appeal.  Your generous support enabled Vinnies to once again reach out to those most in need within our community over Christmas. Pictured, Fr Josh blessed the Hampers at OLC Conference prior to their distribution to needy people at Christmas.

Kawana Bible Study in Jan 2022

Friends, whenever worshiping Catholics are asked, “What are you looking for in a parish,” one of the most common responses is formation/learning opportunities. Starting on Thursday 20th Jan at 8-9.30am for six weeks, there will be a Bible Study on St Paul’s letter to the Philippians. John Manion will lead this at the Good Shepherd Centre. Please register by emailing or texting [email protected] 0416 154 144

In Transition

As a parish family we welcome Asher Bowker who will be  baptised at OLR this weekend.

Thank you

We have all had to adapt and change during these uncertain Covid days and we have all learnt new ways of doing old things!    Your Parish family is no different.  The collection plate is just one of many ways of supporting your parish today and during the New Year.  Without your support we cannot cover our debts nor can we put into action our Parish pastoral mission and ministry.   The QR code adjacent is just one convenient and easy way to financially support the Parish.  Whatever way you fulfil your pledge a grateful Parish says – thank you.
