Building up a Sense of Community: 2022 Parish Alpha Update
Friends, a fundamental element of parish community life is taking opportunities to gather together and build up our community. We all need friendships in our lives, we all need food to sustain us, and as Christians, we all need to invest in our faith journeys.
Starting at 10am on Monday 31st January in the OLR Parish Centre, you are invited to participate in an Alpha Course. This course is being run during the daytime to cater for those who may not feel comfortable going out at night. It promises opportunities to develop new friendships, a salubrious morning tea and faith formation that’s easy to understand.

New Planned Giving
From the beginning of the Covid Pandemic our Parish has survived on the extraordinary generosity of parishioners. In those early, uncertain days, when we were all locked down and the road ahead looked unclear, parishioners had to deliberately make the choice to financially support the parish through dropping off donations at the office, using the white drum at the entrance to the Caloundra church or changing to on-line giving. It allowed us to pay our bills and relook at our ongoing expenses. Thank you once again for your generous support during those uncharted times.
With the start of another year, this weekend at all our communities, this year’s Planned Giving Envelopes will be available for those who have opted to utilize this method of financially supporting your Parish. While many parishioners have transitioned across to the choice of on-line giving to support the Parish, the Planned Giving Programme still provides our Parish Family with the solid foundation to meet our running expenses and confidently budget for the future.
If you would like to join the Planned Giving Programme by either using weekly envelopes or utilizing on-line options or if you would like to make an adjustment to your financial support, there are brochures at the entrance to the church. Simply complete them and return it to the Parish Office. Alternatively, by far the easiest way is to go to our Parish Web Page and follow the links on the Donate page to sign up.
Building on the solid foundation we have built over the past 50 years, we contemplate with confidence the emerging new Aura development and the challenges that will arise in the post-Covid world with the reassurance of your continued support and trust. Thank you.

Your support is needed FOR TONGA
Caritas Australia is the international aid and development agency of the Australian Catholic Church. As seen through the press, Tonga has been cut off from the rest of the world following a violent underwater volcano eruption on 15 January that triggered tsunamis, destroyed telecommunications and blanketed the Pacific island nation in ash.
Early reports do not do justice to the level of destruction and upheaval. Caritas is already working with its local partners on the ground to organize and provide short term and long term assistance – if you would like to find out more about what is going on and how you can financially help please go the Caritas Web Page
A New Year – A New Journey
Every year we welcome new adults into the Church. They come to us with distinct and unique faith journeys and the challenge for our community is to support them as they continue their search. The way we do that is through the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults). It is a big title for a very simple series of meetings where we cover some of the important beliefs of our Faith.
This year we are putting a team together that will help coordinate the meetings. Would you consider being part of the team? We have all the resources and it is simply coordinating the gatherings and journeying with those who are enquiring about what we believe as Catholics. Actually, those who are part of the team usually get as much out of the RCIA journey as the adults enquiring about the faith! For more information please contact Fr Peter or Fr Ejikeme on 5430 9390, [email protected] or Marie Pucko on 0408 779 507.
The Story of Australia
This is the Story of Australia – the story of an extraordinary nation. The Story begins 60,000 years ago. New chapters are written every day. On Australia Day, we reflect on our history, its highs and its lows. We respect the stories of others. And we celebrate our nation, its achievements and most of all, its people. We’re all part of the story.
The Australia Day public holiday is on this Wednesday and at Our Lady of the Rosary everyone is invited to celebrate the 9am Mass where we will pray for the continent and people of the Great South Land of the Holy Spirit. At Maleny, 10am in the yard of the Maleny Neighbourhood Centre, there will be a Ceremony of Remembrance, which will include a Welcome to Country, excerpts from local history poetry, music and song. If you are intending to attend please bring a camp chair.
We have all had to adapt and change during these uncertain Covid days and we have all learnt new ways of doing old things! Your Parish family is no different. The collection plate is just one of many ways of supporting your parish today and during the New Year. Without your support we cannot cover our debts nor can we put into action our Parish pastoral mission and ministry. The QR code below is just one convenient and easy way to financially support the Parish. Whatever way you fulfil your pledge a grateful Parish says – thank you. (click or scan me)
As a parish family we welcome Vinnie ball & Olivia Sinnot who will be baptised this weekend in our Parish.
We also pray for James Beil & Mary Falise who died last week and their funerals will be held in the next 2 weeks at G&W. May their souls and all the souls of our deceased priests, religious and parishioners Rest in Peace.
