Parish Centre External Redevelopment

Work continues on the gathering area redevelopment at Our Lady of the Rosary.  Last week the old covered walkway that needed to be demolished because of wood rot and the pavers were removed. It allowed us the opportunity to replace the original earthen wear sewage line and improve drainage. The next phase will be to concrete the area providing appropriate access to the      disabled toilet.  When that is complete a new covered walkway will be installed. We are waiting for building certifiers to sign off on the proposed covered area which will complete the project – we might need a little more patience as this process takes time. Thank you to parishioners and draftsman, Peter McDougal for overseeing this work.

Volunteer Painter Needed

Our community is blessed by many who are creative and handy with their hands – certainly handier than your priests!!!  The toilet block adjacent to Caloundra Church are in desperate need of a coat of paint.  We are looking for someone with a little experience of painting to volunteer and give the toilets a coat of paint – if you are interested please contact Fr Peter 54309390. At the same time, as work continues of the refurbishment of the OLR gathering area, we want to take this opportunity to replant some of the gardens that have overgrown over the last couple of years. Parishioner and former groundsman at OLR, Terry Scholes will coordinate this project and he is looking for some volunteers to help him – once again, if you are interested please give Fr Peter a call at the Parish Office 5430 9390 or send an Email to [email protected] – thank you.

Thank you

Our Parish Family is full of wonderful volunteers who, quietly, behind the scenes, keep our community running and reach out and minister to so many.  From cleaning our churches and keeping our gardens under control, to children’s church and  taking communion to those who can’t make it to Mass and the myriad of unseen tasks that quietly take place, we certainly are blessed as a community.   Generosity of time and talent is a reflection of who we are – thank you.

Advanced Notice

Finally, for your diary.  Before you know it Ash Wednesday and our Lenten journey will be upon us. Last year we successfully held a Mini Lenten Mission with the Jesuit priest, Fr Richard Leonard.  We received a lot of positive feedback about the format and content.  This year we have invited Brother Damian Price cfc to lead our Lenten Mini Mission and we look forward to providing more information over the coming weeks.

The Women’s Retreat Day

The “Walking with God” retreat is scheduled for 15th February commencing with 9am Mass at OLR and concluding at 2.30pm. Guest speaker will be Lisa McKerr from the Brisbane Evangelisation Team. All women are invited and morning tea and lunch with be provided. There will be no charge but for catering purposes could people confirm by calling Vivienne on 0409897673 or Julie on 0431941271.

Thank you

A big thank you to all parishioners who continue to support the mission and ministry of the parish though one of the various options of financial support.  On-line giving, direct debit or the weekly planned giving envelopes – it all counts and it is all gratefully appreciated.   If you use the weekly envelopes to fulfil your pledge then this year’s envelopes are available at the entrance to the church.   While many parishioners have transitioned across to the choice of on-line giving to support the Parish, the Planned Giving Programme still provides our Parish Family with the solid  foundation to meet our   running expenses and confidently budget for the future.

If you would like to join the Planned Giving Programme by either using weekly envelopes or utilizing on-line options or if you would like to make an adjustment to your financial support, there are brochures at the entrance to the church.  Simply complete them and return it to the Parish Office.  Alternatively, by far the easiest way is to go to our Parish Web Page and follow the links on the Donate page to sign up.

In Transition

As a parish family we welcome Gabrielle Villalba who will be baptised this weekend in our Parish.

We also pray for Mary Falise, Eluisa Dionisio & Brian King who died last week and their funerals will be held in the next week. May their souls and all the souls of our deceased priests, religious and parishioners Rest in Peace.
