Kingdom YA Testimony Night

This is a call out to all young adults in the parish aged 18 – 35. Our young adult group meets weekly and you’re invited! We are all about support, connection, and friendship as we walk this journey of faith together. We’re talking social nights, testimony, formation, and so much more. We want to meet you wherever you’re at, so please reach out!  THIS coming Wednesday 9 February is our very first Kingdom YA Testimony Night! Starting at 6pm at OLR, we’re sharing dinner together and then one of our young adults will be sharing her testimony – her journey of faith so far. Nobody is alone and so many of us have been through the same things. These nights are all about growing closer together and closer to God.  All are welcome; please bring friends! If you are interested in attending, please email Felicity via [email protected]. We are keen to get to know you!

Lenten Reflection Program 2022

Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent is only 3½weeks away!  Soon we will be ordering booklets of Daily Reflections for Lent from the Brisbane Archdiocese and we are looking for expressions of interest, we will need to order the resources and to form groups.  The Lenten Discussion groups have always been a rewarding faith experience for all involved.  If you would like to form a group please let us know.   If you are interested in being part of a group likewise please contact the parish office 5430 9390 or [email protected]

Watch Your Step

It is easy to notice that over the past couple of weeks there has been plenty of maintenance going on around Our Lady of the Rosary. The structurally unsafe covered walkway has been removed along with the pavers.  The blocked original earthenware sewage and stormwater pipes have been replaced with new PVC pipes.  This Monday, weather permitting, the pathway will be concreted making the disabled toilet accessible at the same time maintenance work will begin on the roof over the disabled ramp leading into the church.  Because of Covid we are experiencing delays in getting materials and tradespeople but our plan is still to progress with the instillation of the covered area over the gathering area in the next couple of months.

Children’s Church

Our OLR Kids Club starts next Sunday 13th Feb, it is an important ministry that takes place at the start of Mass when the younger members of the congregation are sent forth with a leader who explores with them age appropriate reflections on the gospel or some other related theme.  The children and the leaders return to the church and re-join their families at the conclusion of the Eucharistic Prayer.  At Maleny this ministry already works well and with the resumption of school quickly approaching, we want to start up children’s church at the 9:30am Caloundra Mass once again.  All the material for Children’s Church is provided and it works well when there is a pool of volunteers willing to take turns and work as a team.  If you are interested or would like more information please contact Dale Rolls [email protected]

Volunteer Painter Needed

Our community is blessed by many who are creative and handy with their hands – certainly handier than your priests!!!  The toilet block adjacent to Caloundra Church are in desperate need of a coat of paint.  We are looking for someone with a little experience of painting to volunteer and give the toilets a coat of paint – if you are interested please contact Fr Peter 54309390. At the same time, as work continues of the refurbishment of the OLR gathering area, we want to take this opportunity to replant some of the gardens that have overgrown over the last couple of years. Parishioner and former groundsman at OLR, Terry Scholes will coordinate this project and he is looking for some volunteers to help him – once again, if you are interested please give Fr Peter a call at the Parish Office 5430 9390 or send an Email to [email protected] – thank you.

Advanced Notice

Finally, for your diary.  Before you know it Ash Wednesday and our Lenten journey will be upon us. Last year we successfully held a Mini Lenten Mission with the Jesuit priest, Fr Richard Leonard.  We received a lot of positive feedback about the format and content.  This year we have invited Brother Damian Price cfc to lead our Lenten Mini Mission and we look forward to providing more information over the coming weeks.

Thank you

If you would like to join the Planned Giving Programme by either using weekly envelopes or utilizing on-line options or if you would like to make an adjustment to your financial support, there are brochures at the entrance to the church.  Simply complete them and return it to the Parish Office.  Alternatively, by far the easiest way is to go to our Parish Web Page and follow the links on the Donate page to sign up.

In Transition

As a Parish family we would like to Congratulate Zach Fortini & Kathleen Buckley who will be married at OLR this week.

We also pray for George Calleja & Brian King whose funerals will be held in the next two weeks. May their souls and all the souls of our deceased priests, religious and parishioners Rest in Peace.
