Hours of Grace
Hours of Grace is a prolonged period of Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament to enable prayer and praise to Jesus Christ who is truly present in the Eucharist. On Friday, 3rd June, beginning with 9am Mass, until 8am on Sat morning, there will be continuous Adoration at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Caloundra.
Individuals and groups are encouraged to come together for prayer. The church will remain open the entire time with the Blessed Sacrament exposed on the Altar. You are encouraged to register in advance for your available time for a selected period using the roster available at the entrance of the church. We hope this will be a wonderful time of prayer
The Homeless Need Our Help
Next month, Dan McShea, Principal of Unity College, and Michael Steward, principal of OLR Primary School, and I will be roughing it in the cold and (hopefully not) wet. This winter we’re sleeping out with other CEO’s and community leaders to not only raise money for people experiencing homelessness, but raise awareness of their plight. Homelessness can affect anyone – women, men, and even children. Just recently, there was a large family living both in their car and under the BBQ shelter at Shelly Beach for over a week – fortunately, one of our local Vinnies Conferences was able to find them a house to live in Beerwah. I’d walk or run past most mornings and just feel helpless – which is not a nice feeling when you want to help. The good news though is that together, we can make a significant difference!
Please support the three of us during the Vinnies CEO Sleepout and your donation will help the St Vincent de Paul Society empower more people to get off the streets and into stable accommodation. Vinnies provides counselling, education, health and employment services to help people to lift themselves out of the cycle of poverty.
Every donation is meaningful. Just fifty dollars can provide a whole family with a warm, nutritious meal this winter. The other good news this year is that money donated locally by you will stay local. Please help us raise funds by clicking on the links below – Fr Josh’s link first though—let’s be honest, even though we’re all part of the same Church, it’s a competition between the schools and the parish! Thank you so much; your generosity is truly appreciated. Fr Josh (I started with $200 of my own money)

National Reconciliation Week
The week is held each year from 27 May to 3 June. These dates mark two significant milestones in the ongoing journey toward reconciliation – the 1967 referendum and the 1992 High Court Mabo decision. 2022 marks 30 years since the Mabo decision was handed down.
This year’s theme is Be Brave. Make Change, and encourages us all to look for actions we can take every day to help achieve reconciliation in Australia.

Ignite Launch Event
Last weekend on a very wet Saturday, 15 youth and young adults from around the parish travelled to Gold Coast to attend the annual Ignite Launch event at Dreamworld. Ignite Launch is a one-day event at the theme park where, when the park closes to the public in the evening, the 300-odd youth people who gather from different parish communities around Brisbane, remain and experience a night of worshiping God with the Emmanuel Worship band, and listen to engaging speakers on faith-related topics. This is the first time our parish has sent a group to Ignite Launch and while they were positively drenched for the whole day, they had a blast – not only on the wonderful Dreamworld rides and rollercoasters, but also at the worship event. Your financial generosity helped subsidise these young people to attend Ignite Launch so from the young people to you, a big THANK YOU!
