Opportunity to Walk with those who are Grieving

In our parish, we celebrate many funerals every year – both in our churches and in the funeral homes around Caloundra. To help support families who lose a loved one, we have a brand new process in place for sending a condolence message to the next of kin(s) after a funeral is celebrated; we also send them an anniversary message every year. There are, however, further      opportunities for us, as a parish, to offer grief support to families who celebrate funerals in our parish. We are calling for expressions of interest for people who would like to be part of developing a Grief Support Ministry. Please prayerfully consider if you have the capacity to serve in this ministry and so offer yourself as the hands and feet of Jesus. You can leave your name and contact details at the front desk or via email: [email protected]

Expressions of Interest requested

Are you passionate about providing a safe environment for all?  Our parish is calling for Expressions of Interest for the following pivotal role.

LSR (Local Safeguarding Representative, volunteer)
Each parish in the Archdiocese of Brisbane has a LSR who is responsible for:

  1. making sure that the whole parish is aware of the importance of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults,
  2. promoting safe practices including articulating for others what is appropriate and inappropriate behaviour, and
  3. assisting the Parish staff in the implementation of the Archdiocesan Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults Policy in the Parish. This policy can be found at:
    https://brisbanecatholic.org.au/support/safeguard

Our Parish and the Archdiocese is committed to providing all necessary assistance to our appointed LSR and will provide proper induction, resources, and ongoing support and training. Please contact the Parish Office [email protected] if you would like to express an interest in this valuable role, and to obtain more details of this role.

Calling all Altar Servers

Each year, we offer altar server training – usually just for junior  ministers. This year, however, we are opening up the opportunity for both current and prospective junior ministers, and also those adults who already serve, or would like to serve the altar. This training opportunity will be fun and interactive as we look at the practicalities of a very important ministry.  If you or your child/grandchild would like to be part of this opportunity, please call/email the parish office with your details. Once we’ve compiled the list, we’ll decide on a suitable day/time that’s most convenient.  Tasty food and refreshments will be supplied!

This Monday, June 13th is the 4th anniversary of the death of our foundation Parish Priest, Fr John Egan. Fr Egan began his ministry here at Our Lady of the Rosary Parish in 1972 before moving to St Columba’s Parish, Wilston, in 1983.
