OLR Parish Summit 2022

Friends, over the last few weeks you may have heard Fr Josh preaching about the process which we, as a parish, are entering into: the creation of a 5-year strategic plan. While much of the work will be carried out by small groups of parishioners, the most important aspect of the process is a Parish Summit Event. This event will take place on Saturday 5 November at Unity College auditorium (times to be announced). It provides an opportunity for the entire parish community to come together in order to share and dream about what our parish will look like in the future.

The summit allows a space where people can not only have their say, but also be listened to and take part in the process of creating a something exciting which will inform our efforts to become a parish where all –especially those who are missing from the pews – feel welcome and belong.

Golden Jubilee Mass

We are celebrating our Golden Jubilee with a special Mass on Sunday 2 October. Archbishop Mark will be celebrating with us as together, we gather at the OLR Primary School covered court area on Alfred St, just behind the school. This is a celebration for all eight of our worshiping communities. The morning will start with Archbishop Mark blessing the renovations and developments at the Parish Centre and the new covered area, followed by a Rosary Procession from the church to the covered court area. Parishioners are encourage to join this
procession but with the challenge of walking that distance, are also welcome to gather at the courts where we will complete the final decade of the Rosary. The Mass will conclude with a Parish Picnic on the school grass oval. We look forward to sharing more information about this important celebration in the coming weeks.

Golden Jubilee Gala night

Not long now – 11 weeks to go.  We are still seeking donations of prizes for our Gala night. We would love your support. If you are a business and want to come on board and donate towards our prizes you will be promoted on the night and on our Gala webpage leading up to the event. We already have some wonderful sponsors who are supporting us.

For our 50th anniversary, we are asking all parishioners to send us a photo of any hidden treasures, interesting artefacts or historical photographs that you might have in your own collection from the past 50 years of Our Lady of the Rosary parish and surrounding Catholic communities. Please email photos to  [email protected]  or bring in your photos to the parish office and Eileen and Vicki will scan them for our Jubilee celebrations.

Annual Catholic Campaign 2022

On behalf of those who benefit, thank you for your generosity in giving to the Annual Catholic Campaign. As they were last week, envelopes will once again be available on your seats this weekend. Please use this link to make a donation online. It’s not too late to Donate! Both Fathers Josh and Francis are grateful beneficiaries of your generosity in the past with Holy Spirit Seminary being one of the four worthy  recipients – so from us to you, we say “Thank You”.
