A Special Welcome

To everyone joining us today, past and present parishioners! Whether you are traveling from across the street, up the Bruce Highway or roving around the country, thank you for choosing to be part of our 50th anniversary thanksgiving Jubilee Mass celebration today.  God Bless each and every one of you, now and always.

Ignite Conference 2022

We were very blessed to send a group of 40 youth and young adults to the 2022 Ignite Conference at St Laurence’s College, Brisbane last weekend.

It was an incredible and transformative experience for many of those who attended. We explored faith through workshops aimed at different age groups; we gathered in small groups to meet new and like-minded people; we experienced Adoration (some for the very first time); we prayed powerfully in-prayer teams; celebrated the Sacrament of Reconciliation; and we praised openly in the explosive rallies alongside the worship band and 1200 other young people.

Personally, it was the greatest joy for me to witness our group’s growth over the four days. The way they embraced their faith so openly, arms out in praise ready to receive the Lord, is the fruit which seeds of our youth ministry has planted, watered by the love and constant support we receive from you, our parish community. Please continue to pray for us as we come down off this mountain top experience and back into the valley of school and parish life. May their experiences bring life in new ways to our community! I am so excited to see what happens next.

We look forward to Ignite Conference 2023! Stay tuned!

Felicity, Parish Youth Minister

A few short testimonies:

Ignite strengthened my relationship with God, reminding me of his presence and strength in my life. Emmanuel Worships’ music and making new friends were my highlights. Issy Payne, Year 10 (pictured left above)

Ignite was such a good experience for me. It taught me a lot on how to live with the Holy Spirit in my life. I really enjoyed the music and worship parts of each day and I look forward to it next year. Jacob Gomez, Year 10 (pictured centre above)

Ignite 2022 was my first conference experience, and was seriously life-changing!  I went in with a heavy heart, full of uncertainty and hurt, but I can truly say the experience I had with Ignite was so healing. I can’t wait for Ignite 2023! Elijah Gonzalez, Young Adult.

Our first meet up will be at the Baringa Tavern on Friday 7 October at 6.30pm for dinner and drinks (there is no youth group at Unity College this week). Please RSVP Laura McHugh by Monday 3 October by email [email protected] or phone 0423 654 927.     We look forward to seeing you there!

Season of Creation (Final week of prayer & reflection)

“I have heard their cry…I know their sufferings…Come, now! I will send you…I will be with you” (Ex 3:1-12)
“Everything is related, and we human beings are united as brothers and sisters on a wonderful pilgrimage, woven together by the love God has for each creature…. we are agreed today that the Earth is essentially a shared inheritance, whose fruits are meant to benefit everyone.” Pope Francis Laudato Si’- ON CARE FOR OUR COMMON HOME #92, #93.

The Season of Creation is a time set aside each year to focus on God’s gift of creation and our responsibility to care for it, our common home.  There are many resources available to support you in your efforts to celebrate this season until the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, this Tuesday 4 October. Watch the Cry of the Earth Video, read messages of His Holiness Pope Francis, listen to the 2022 official Care of Creation song and find more resources at the Season of Creation website.

In Transition

As a parish family we welcome Ollie Inzitari, Alfie Avolie & Malia Tong who will be baptised at OLR this weekend.

We pray for Ilana Bonavia, whose funeral was held at OLR last Tuesday, and Ailsa White, who died last week and whose funeral will be at OLR this Thursday.

May their souls and all the souls of our deceased priests, religious and parishioners rest in peace.
