Masses for All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day
This Tuesday, November 1st, is the feast of All Saints and the following day is All Souls – two very important annual occasions that remind us of our mortality and the purpose of our own lives; they cause us to reflect upon and pray for those who have gone before us marked with the sign of faith.
Our Mass times on All Saints’ Day are: Caloundra 9:00am & Maleny 9:00am
Our Mass times for All Souls’ Day are: Unity 7.50am & Caloundra 5:00pm
Please note the extra Wednesday Mass for ALL Souls Day at OLR Caloundra
This weekend at the entrance to all our churches you will discover our parish BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE and you are invited to inscribe on the pages the names of your loved ones and friends who have gone before you.
As a faith community we will remember them and pray for them in our November Masses. May their souls, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the rich mercy of God, rest in peace
Parish Summit Day Registrations
One of the realities we face as a parish is our aging population. As a matter of fact, 54% of our worshiping parishioners are over 70 years old. While this may sometimes instigate feelings of disappointment or thoughts of fear for our future, I see opportunity because our elderly parishioners have so much to offer – indeed, Pope Francis’ choice of Scripture for the 2022 World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly was, “In old age, they will still bear fruit” (Ps 92:14).
At the time of writing this piece, we have 121 people signed up to attend the Summit Day on 5 November at Unity College Auditorium in Caloundra West. As I’ve spoken with and listened to people over this past week, however, it has become clear that there are people in our parish who feel that they have nothing or very little to offer due to their age. The fact of the matter is, however, that this is completely untrue. Those who are 70+ years old have a lot to offer because they have the wisdom of years. As Job says, “Wisdom belongs to the aged, and understanding to the old” (12:12).
Our goal for the Parish Summit Day is to have at least 180 people in attendance (18% of the worshiping population). Without this quorum, we lose the ability to gain enough buy-in to the entire Strategic Planning Process and risk the entire enterprise being something which just happens to us. Friends, the future of our parish is a greater sense of ownership and participation in decision-making processes so that together, we have a shared responsibility as baptised members of the Body of Christ.
I strongly encourage you to head on over to the Eventbrite web page to sign up for the Parish Summit Day by either scanning this QR code, or typing in the following web page/URL. As a last resort, you may ring or email the parish office if you find the internet challenging. Please register before Tuesday, 1st November so that we can order enough lunch from our provider.
I look forward to seeing you there and listening to your voice. Fr Josh
This will be an RSVP’d event for catering purposes. Please register here via Eventbrite.

At this short preparation meeting, we outline some of the symbols used at the ceremony, answer any questions and confirm dates. Catholic Mission: Bring Hope to Neela
With over 70% of households in the remote township of Emdibir in Ethiopia unable to provide enough nutritious food for their families each day, malnutrition and other health issues are a significant problem, especially for babies and young children like Neela’s* youngest child, Ajani*.
In collaboration with the local community, the Church, led by Fr Habtesilassie Antuan
(Hab-tay-si-lassie An-twan), hopes to establish a goat rearing centre, where nutritious
milk will be produced and distributed to families in most need to help reverse and
prevent illness and malnutrition.
The Church and the community of Emdibir need support to construct, stock and run
the farm. It’s not too late to support this life-giving work in Ethiopia, along with many other Church-run mission programs around the world.
Going Deeper podcast
There’s so much to know about the Catholic faith that it’s easy to get caught up in catechising ourselves while we forget about what it means to implement the faith in our daily lives. If you’re interested in learning more, or just getting some perspective on faith, tune in to the weekly episodes!

As a parish family we welcome Jake Robinson, Oliver Mackenzie, Joseph Caughey & Caley Thomas who will be baptised at OLR and Landsborough this weekend.
