Volunteers Needed

We are looking for assistant volunteers to help with pastoral care in the office.  If you are able to assist

in helping coordinate visits to the sick and organising communion ministers to nursing homes,

please email the parish office with your interest to [email protected]

Parish NET Fundraiser

Erin Osbourne and Emily Noyes from this Parish have both been accepted to join the National Evangelisation Team (NET) for 2023. This is a great honour for the parish. Last year Verity Lebeter was accepted and has had a wonderful year supporting and bringing young people in schools to Faith in the Wollongong Diocese.

On Sunday 11 December, the Woman’s Friendship and Prayer / Craft / and Card Groups will be  holding a Cake, Plant, and Bric ‘N Brac stall after the 9:30am mass at OLR, as well as a sausage sizzle and Christmas raffle to support the young ladies.

Sacrament of Initiation – Congratulations

Last weekend, we welcomed ten students into the family as they celebrated their Sacraments of Initiation – Holly Rees, Sienna Macfarlane, Amilia Greene, Emmeline Ford, Emma Nulty, Makenzie O’Brien, Lincoln Nicholson, Aidan Kirby, Charlie Thorne, and Levi Hoppe.

It was a great privilege to journey with them throughout the program; to meet them wherever they were at and to guide them a little closer into a personal relationship with Jesus. A very special congratulations to Holly and Sienna who celebrated the wonderful occasion of their baptism.

We look forward to continuing to support them in their faith lives into next year and beyond. Please continue to pray for them as they continue on this journey and thank you so much for all the support we have received as a ministry thus far.

Ministry to the sick

The parish is in need of volunteers to take communion to the sick and elderly. If you are able to give of
your time and presence, please contact the parish office on (07) 5430 9390. Training and knowledge to perform your ministry with excellence will be provided. Thank you for your generosity towards those who cannot join us in worship.

A taste of Taizé

Some of you may have visited the village of Taizé near Maçon in Western France.  During WWII, Brother Roger established a community there to shelter Jews fleeing from Nazi persecution.  This is a special place of reconciliation and welcome.  The Brothers pray very simply through chant.  There is a focus on youth who flock to Taizé to reflect on their lives and join in the sung prayer.  Experience this beautiful prayer for yourself at OLR on Tuesday 6 Dec at 7:00pm.

Going Deeper podcast

There’s so much to know about the Catholic faith that it’s easy to get caught up in catechising ourselves while we forget about what it means to implement the faith in our daily lives. If you’re interested in learning more, or just getting some perspective on faith, tune in to the weekly episodes!
