Our Parish’s mission
While we are still in the drafting phase of our Strategic Plan, there are certain aspects, such as our mission, which are worth publishing ahead of time:
Our mission is to be a vibrant community that actively accompanies people to encounter Jesus.

For the next month, the Parish will be collecting information regarding who is taking communion and to whom.

Date Claimer for Lenten Mini Mission
While we are still in the season of Ordinary Time, Lent looms large with Ash Wednesday on 22 February. As per the last two years, we have a top quality speaker coming to the parish to facilitate a Lenten Mini-Mission. Bishop Tim Norton, our new Auxiliary Bishop of Brisbane, will lead us for three days – Monday 27th, Tuesday 28th February and Wednesday 1st March at 9.30am following morning Mass at OLR church. We will be sharing Bishop Tim with Maroochydore this year so while we only have him for a morning session, he will also be giving a 5.00pm session at Stella Maris church in Maroochydore on the same days.
NET Ministries update
Friends, after much discernment during the first week of NET training at Peregian Springs, Emily Noyes, one of our two young women who were accepted to do a year of NET in 2023, has decided that her mission lies not with NET Ministries, but here in our parish. Emily’s decision was not an easy one but she is excited about the prospect of continuing to minister to young people at our Friday night Kingdom Youth group. Many of you have already generously supported Erin Osborne and Emily in their fundraising efforts. With your permission, Emily’s half of the funds will be used exclusively for youth ministry in our parish. If you would like to discuss this, please contact me through the parish office. Fr Josh
The Catholic Leader Digital Pilot Project
OLR is one of 5 parishes taking part in a pilot of a new digital delivery model for The Catholic Leader.
- During the 3-month pilot The Catholic Leader will cease newspaper deliveries to our parish. Instead, there will be free access to the digital version of the Leader via a QR Code in the weekly parish bulletin.
- The QR code will take you to a Catholic Leader page with five of the top stories for the week. From there, you will be able to navigate the entire Catholic Leader website for free.
- If you access a parish e-newsletter, there will be a Catholic Leader link that will also take you to the same landing page.
During the pilot project The Catholic Leader team will seek your feedback via a short survey to see how you like the digital delivery.
Inspiring a Love of reading among children
Our Lady of the Rosary Primary school understands that reading is the foundation on which so many learning skills are developed. This year, the school community will continue to focus on developing solid reading practices across the school to ensure all children are improving their reading.
To support this, we are looking for volunteers to listen to students read as part of our ‘Read With Me’ initiative. If you have a spare 20 – 30 minutes in the morning (8:35 – 9:00am) or afternoon (2:30 – 3:00pm) and would like to listen to a child read at OLR School, please get in touch with Lisa Kearney or the school office to indicate your interest. Please remember, that to volunteer you must complete the online training on the BCE website and forward the form to the school office. Volunteers must also provide a copy of their current Blue Card or Exemption Card.
Women’s Retreat – only 1 week away!
One week to go until our Annual Women’s Retreat at OLR church on Saturday 4 February commencing with Mass at 9.00am. All are welcome, please invite your friends.
Lisa McKerr and Chantale Wilson will once again lead us to an Encounter With Jesus. Please join us for a spiritually-filled day where we will have an opportunity for some quiet time for ourselves to reflect and pray. We will have discussion time to share our thoughts and learn from each other. Lunch will be provided and there is no cost.
For registration and catering purposes please text or call Vivienne 0409897673 or Julie 0431941271.
Into His Likeness
Dr Edward Sri’s “Into His Likeness” s a six-part, one-session per week course during the Lenten Season, calling us to examine the life, death and resurrection of Jesus, which will challenge us in our response to walking in His footsteps.
The course invokes the following questions:
- Do I desire a deeper relationship with Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and my Heavenly Father?
- Am I willing to re-commit my life to My Loving Saviour this Easter?
- Am I open to call upon the Holy Spirit’s help to heal aspects of my life?
- Have I grown spiritually in the last week, month, year, or decade?
Perhaps this course is the means to re-ignite your Christian calling and commitment.
Courses commence on Ash Wednesday, 22 June at OLR in the morning & evening; at Landsborough in the afternoon; and Thursday morning 23 June at Kawana GSC
