Father’s Day Blessings!!

This Sunday we celebrate Father’s Day. It is a day for people to show their appreciation for fathers and father figures. Father figures may include stepfathers, grandfathers, fathers-in-law, guardians (eg. foster parents), and Priests, Brothers and other clergy and shepherds in our Church. We pray for all dads and for all special men in our lives. God, bless all the fathers in the world. Guide them to be good role models and loving to all their children. Help them to be a father like You are. Give them grace and patience to handle situations in a loving way.

To all the fathers in the world: we salute you and ask the Lord to bless you on this very special day! On this day, we would like to entrust you to the intercession of St. Joseph, the foster father of Our Lord, whose silent and hidden sacrifices and the gentle but firm affection and love he showed is a model to all of us!

May you all strive to be holy Christian fathers, to faithfully love, protect, sustain, strengthen, educate, correct and provide – with an authentic Christian wisdom, strong arms, resolute will and firm but gentle heart, loving and faithful in service of others.
This we ask God our Father, model of all fathers in the world, from whom all fatherhood on earth comes.

Peace and Blessings, Fr Josh

September Signup!

It’s September Signup! Parishioners and visitors are invited to sign-up to Flocknote, our
communication and engagement tool. Our Parish (and the Archdiocese of Brisbane) has officially
adopted Flocknote for all parishes, as a safe, new, and improved way of communicating in parishes.

Flocknote is free for parishioners to use, and there is no need to download anything. Your info is kept
secure and private. It only takes a couple minutes to sign up to receive emails from the parish. You
are even able to reply directly back to those emails so we can get feedback and hear from you.
Parishioners and visitors are invited to use this link and signup and register with
the parish. If you have any questions, please see a priest, or speak with the Parish office.

First Holy Communion

Congratulations to our young children who celebrated their first Holy Communion last weekend!! Thank you, too, to the team, who did a wonderful job – your ministry is appreciated 🙂

Young Adult-led Adoration at Landsborough

Our Young Adults are travelling to Landsborough to host their regular Adoration event in September.   All in the Parish are invited to come and join the Young Adults at Our Lady of the Way in Landsborough on Wednesday the 11th of Sept 6pm-7pm.

Contact your local State MP about the “Respect at Work ” Bill

The “Respect at Work and Other Matters” Bill is set to go before Parliament in the week of September 8th, the last sitting days before the election. This bill, in its current form, will have serious impact on all churches and faith-based organisations:  Read more here: https://contactyourmp.org.au/qld-ad-respect

Our Church leaders have sought meetings with the Government, to address our concerns and offer solutions. To date, they have not met with us.  It is urgent that you write to your local MP. We know that politicians respond when they receive lots of letters from people in their electorate. We need both sides of politics to commit to amending this bill.

Faith & Formation

The Faith & Formation Team is interested in your thoughts around what areas of your faith or prayer life you would like to deepen. Over the past two years, we have held book studies on prayer, spiritual autobiographies; we have also hosted screenings of enduring pieces of sacred music among other things. It is also within our budget to host retreats and some of these are already being discussed for the year ahead. Please let us know which topics or books you or a few of you would like to explore together through this link.

Golden Wedding Anniversary Mass

Couples celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary or more, are invited to attend together with family and friends, Saturday the 28th of September at 11:30am.

Archbishop Mark Coleridge will be celebrating the Anniversary Mass. RSVP: Wednesday 25th September

Email: [email protected]  or Phone 3324 3030

The Cathedral car park will be available.

A Year of Invitation

My Lord and my God, you never cease to invite me to know, love and follow your Son, Jesus.

Give me the grace and courage to be a channel of your love so that my “yes” to you becomes an invitation to others.

I offer up my entire self – heart, mind and will – to your purpose for me. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

On the Journey
