Ascension Sunday

Ladies Lunch

The Ladies Lunch is this Friday May 21st at 12 noon at Three Restaurant. Unlike before we need to know numbers. Please contact Deborah 0410531901 by Monday May 17th if you would like to attend.

National Count of Mass attendance

This weekend’s head count will be counting all the male and females who will be at Mass. Australia’s Catholic parishes are asked to undertake the five-yearly National Count of Attendance in May. Held every five years since 2001, the project is a simple head count of all attendees at all parishes over the four weekends of May. The National Count of Attendance is held in the same year as the Australian Census, which will take place in August. That allows for information gathered from the two projects to be analysed together.

Changing Liturgical Seasons

We are nearing the end of our Easter Season as we celebrate the Ascension of the Lord this weekend, and then Pentecost Sunday next weekend. Both of these feasts help us to further make connections between the Life, Death, and Resurrection of Christ and our own life, death, and resurrection. As soon as we think of the great feast of Pentecost we think of the Holy Spirit and the colour RED which so powerfully symbolises this feast and the working of the Holy Spirit.

Next weekend why don’t we all, as a community, try and wear something RED, and during the course of living this week contemplate what that item of clothing might be. It certainly is a practical way of preparing for Pentecost!

Hours of Grace (HOG)

You shall worship the Lord your God, and I will bless your bread and your water; and I will take sickness away from among you (Exodus 23:25)

Hours Of Grace is a prolonged period of Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament initiated in Australian Catholic Parishes to enable prayer and praise to Jesus Christ who is truly present in the Most Blessed Sacrament. It happens across the country every year from Ash Wednesday till Pentecost. These are moments of grace where Jesus invites each one of us into an intimate encounter for a loving embrace. It is a personal invitation to all who love Him through this Heavenly Sacrament. This month beginning at 10am on Thursday 20th May until Saturday 22nd May 9am, there will be continuous Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Caloundra. Individuals and groups are encouraged to come together for prayer. The church will remain open the entire time and the Blessed Sacrament will be on the Altar except during liturgies and meetings.

You are encouraged to register in advance for your available time for a selected period using the roster available at the entrance of the church.

We hope this will be a wonderful time of prayer for everyone

Do you know someone in need?

You need not be isolated from your Caloundra Parish family if you find yourself suddenly sick or unable to join us for Mass each weekend. In each of our communities there are Extraordinary Ministers of Communion who, on a weekly basis, visit homes within our Parish and they bring with them the Blessed Sacrament. If you would like them to visit you or if you know someone who is in need of a visit please contact the Parish Office on email [email protected] or phone 54309390.
