The question is often asked “What do you do in Catholic Women’s League?”

Catholic Women’s League Queensland is organized at three levels, Parish, Diocese and State with 500 members in the Archdiocese of Brisbane, Rockhampton Diocese and Townsville Diocese. Catholic Women’s League State of Queensland is a Member Organization of Catholic Women’s League Australia which is affiliated with the World Union of Catholic Women’s Organisations which unites together in prayer, service and friendship Catholic women from 100 countries around the world. We are involved in Social Justice Issues and are dedicated to a culture of life from conception to death.

We are also involved in Advocacy of Human Rights, Advocacy of Women, Support of Parish Life, Charitable works and Overseas Aid. Our current State project is to support organizations which assist people with mental illness. Our State motto is “Living the Joy of the Gospel”.

Here in our Kawana Waters branch we meet on the fourth Wednesday of each month, at the Kawana Good Shepherd Centre. Prayer is an integral part of our meeting.

Some of the charities we support are ACRATH (Australian Catholic Religious against Trafficking of Humans), Caritas and Jesuit Refugee Services. We rejoice that we could donate for the recent Ignite Conference, are able to give to the annual Siena College Year 12 Religion and Ethics Prize and that we can also give occasional help to our Kawana Good Shepherd Saint Vincent de Paul Conference, whose members do such wonderful work helping those in need in our community.

As we prepare for our 31st Thanksgiving Mass and Annual General Meeting we pray to our Patroness, Our Lady help of Christians, asking her to bless and help us as we continue to work together “For the Honour and Glory of God.”
