Interecession Ministry Dec 3, 2021

Second Sunday of Advent
Interecession Ministry - 6
Interecession Ministry - 6

This ministry is initiated under the guidance of Fr. Josh as the Holy Spirit prompted. The first seed was planted nearly one year ago on 5th December 2020 when some of the parishioners who were interested to pray for others came together at OLR. After this meeting a core team was formed for the intercession ministry and the first intercession email was sent out with parishioners‘ prayer requests on 30th January 2021.

The vision for this intercession ministry is that it becomes both the foundation and the fountain from which flows forth all missionary activity in our parish. There are more than 70 intercessors who’ve opted in on the parish website to pray for the needs of the parish and parishioners.

Prayer requests are collected through the parish website and the prayer petition boxes available at every Hinterland and Coastal parish community. Every week all the intercessors receive an email with weekly prayer requests. The intercessors are encouraged to pray for other’s needs by offering the sacrifice of their prayers from the comfort of their own home. Some also offer these in Holy Mass, some by saying Rosary, Divine Mercy Chaplets or the Memorare; some even through the offering of their sufferings. It doesn’t matter how you pray, as far as you pray from your heart.

We have adoration of the Blessed Sacrament every Monday at OLR after Holy Mass until 10:30hrs; on Fridays at Landsborough after 9am Mass; and before 9am Mass on Tuesdays in Maleny. The prayer requests we received are offered during this time in a special way. During the Month of Mary, we pray Holy Rosary every day after Mass for the intentions of the others. Also, as you all probably remember, we pray for them during special adoration ‘Hours of Grace’. This year we had Hours of Grace from Thursday 20th May 2021 until Saturday 22nd May (48hours). We have another adoration day coming up on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception on 8th December from 9am for 8hrs.

You can add your prayer request through the parish website or you may also like to join or invite others to be part of this emerging and vital ministry and exercise your baptismal priesthood by offering up you sacrifices of prayer.

Please pray that this Ministry become so dynamic and power-filled with the Spirit that it draws people into a personal encounter with the Risen Lord!
