Service and Outreach
The exciting news is that we are returning to Unity College at the end of May to cook more meals with the students to distribute to those in need. Last year we distributed over 700 meals to those in need.
Our Team is seeking to establish a group that will be actively involved in responding to the call of Pope Francis in his 2015 letter “Laudato Si’ – On Care for Our Common Home.”
Pope Francis challenged us to hear the cries of the earth and the cries of the poor as one. Let us be renewed by God’s mercy…and let us become agents of this mercy, channels through which God can water the earth, protect all creation and make justice and peace flourish.”
Our Archbishop Mark Coleridge, at the March 2024 launch of the Archdiocesan Laudato Si’ Action Plan 2024 – 2026, stated: “The situation is critical, and the Church has a unique role to play in turning things around. I encourage every family, parish, community, school, agency and institution in the Archdiocese to embrace this Laudato Si’ Action Plan. Much is being
done already, but we all need to go further in responding to the Holy Father’s invitation to take the path of ecological conversion. This plan will help us all change the way we see the world around us and the way we act.”
“Laudato Si’ Week is a celebration held annually to mark the anniversary of Pope Francis’ call to all of us to care for our common home. The theme of Laudato Si’ Week 2024 (19th-26th May) is ‘Seeds of Hope’. Let us be seeds of hope in our lives and our world; may our daily actions and decisions be rooted in faith and love.
