Service and Outreach
The cooking at Unity College has enabled us to once again have meals available for those in need. If you know of anyone who could benefit from some of these meals, please contact me or the parish office. We are grateful for the generous support we receive from Unity College in facilitating the continuity of this ministry. It is a wonderful opportunity to work with the students and use the food from our pantry that you as a parish have donated to this cause. Our next date for cooking is 6th August and then hopefully again on 20th August so the freezers will be well-stocked for distribution over the next few months.
We have also been given the opportunity to cook soups for Rosies Christmas in July. The event is on 5th July, and we will be providing soup as an entrée for about 80 people- yet another wonderful opportunity to reach out and serve others.
Our Containers for Change project https://caloundracatholicparish.net/containers4change/continues to be supported and we appreciate the fact that parishioners are both donating to our scheme and recycling their containers. We have decided to change to a dedicated collection service which will result in us receiving 5c rather than the 10c per container when they are left at the church near the server. This needed to be done as finding volunteers to empty the bin had become an issue.
Our Laudato Si’ Care for Creation group has formed and is working on a Mission statement as well as looking at the Catholic Earthcare self-assessment tool for our parish. If you would like to join the parish action group to help make a difference to the beautiful world God has given us, please email Trish via the Linktree.
God bless,
