Dinner Dance 2025: A Night To Remember
On 26th April 2025, the parishioners and friends of OLR parish and its communities celebrated a dinner dance at the RSL Function Centre, Caloundra. Around 190 people attended the event where they enjoyed a three-course sumptuous meal, games, and lots of dancing throughout the night.
Highlighting the night is the fantastic live performance of Brisbane-based Diamante Band with their non-stop music where guests crowded the dance floor most of the time. The Baby Boomers dominated the dance floor but of course some from the Silent Generation did not want to be outsmarted with a gentle lady, Marina, in her 90s still proved that she can still do her dance steps with Vicki as her dance partner. There were two series of games played, Get Me and Heads and Tails which brought fun and laughter. An absolute classic is when Damon, one of our guests won the Get Me a shoelace, by diving and sliding into the dance floor just to beat Merle who was only a few steps in claiming the title to winning the game.
Nina, a professional dance instructor, provided additional entertainment by teaching many guests the cha cha, rock n roll and the nut bush, basic steps and moves that people were asking for more. Barrie Woods from our parish also gave a solo song rendition of ‘Sweet Sixteen’.
Thanks to our chief photographer Leah, who was snaping the night away with plenty of photos and videos, which you can all view on our Caloundra Parish website HERE.
The dinner dance is an important activity of the parish since it brings fellowship in the form of social event where all our communities can connect and build relationships and share in each other’s lives. The support of our sponsors, Holy Cross Funerals and the RSL Caloundra, also made this fellowship initiative possible.
From the Organising Team, thank you to the sponsors and all the parishioners and friends who made this successful night possible.
