This Week in our Parish May 7, 2021

Sixth Sunday of Easter

Mary in May

May is the month of Mary in the Church. “Within the cycle of a year, the Church unfolds the whole mystery of Christ from the incarnation and birth until his ascension, the day of Pentecost, and the expectation of blessed hope and of the Lord’s return …. In celebrating this annual cycle of Christ’s mysteries, the Church honours with special love Mary, the Mother of God, who is joined by an inseparable bond to the saving work of her Son. In her the Church holds up and admires the most excellent effect of the redemption and joyfully contemplates, as in a flawless image, that which the Church itself desires and hopes wholly to be.” Vatican Council II Sacroscantum Concilium #102, 103. A faithful group of parishioners prays the rosary at Our Lady of the Rosary after daily Mass during the month of May. A warm invitation is extended to you to join them.

National Count of Mass attendance

Australia’s Catholic parishes are asked to undertake the five-yearly National Count of Attendance in May. Held every five years since 2001, the project is a simple head count of all attenders at all parishes over the four weekends of May. The National Count of Attendance is held in the same year as the Australian Census, which will take place in August. That allows for information gathered from the two projects to be analysed together.

Wall Of Prayer

At the entrance to Our Lady of the Rosary church you will discover some of the smiling faces of those in our Parish Family energetically preparing to receive the Sacraments of Conformation.

They will celebrate Confirmation on the evening of the 26th May. During these busy days of preparation, we keep the candidates and their families in our prayers.

Young Adults Gatherings (YAG)

Our wonderful NET Team have recently started hosting a fortnightly young adults gathering at their house behind OLR church in Caloundra. The fortnightly gatherings on Wednesdays at 6pm are a chance for young men and women to share a meal (they had KFC last week :-), enjoy hanging out with each other, and also spend some time learning about faith-based topics. Last Wednesday, the group watched a 45min YouTube video of Fr Mike Schmitz (host of the popular podcast, Bible in a Year), giving a talk about God’s love for us made manifest in the Eucharist. Fr Mike also linked this unconditional love in a special way to the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

If you are a young adult, or if you know of any young adults who may be interested in gathering fortnightly on Wednesdays for a couple of hours, please get in contact with our Young Adult Coordinator, Kath Ball, on 0418 187 914 or [email protected]

Weekly Update 2021 NET Team

The past week has been a busy one for us. We had our first youth groups for the term where we kicked things off with Crazy Olympics at Lighthouse and a Trivia Night at Illuminate. In these coming weeks, we are looking at going deeper with topics like self-Image, confidence and our personal journeys/struggles with Jesus. As well as our youth groups we’ve been both focusing on immersing ourselves in the Unity community and getting a regular fortnightly Young Adult Gathering (YAG), up and running at the NET house. Please pray for our mission this year, that our young people would experience Christ through us.

Ladies Lunch

The Ladies Lunch is starting again on Friday May 21st at 12 noon at Three restaurant. Unlike before we need to know numbers. Please contact Deborah 0410531901 by Monday May 17th if you would like to attend.
