Over the past 18 months, we have celebrated the completion of three Alpha Courses in our parish. From these courses, multiple new ministries have emerged, led by parishioners who, through Alpha, have learnt how to facilitate group conversation and have been empowered by the Holy Spirit with a desire to serve and give of themselves.
Alpha is simply a free meal, a movie and discussion time in which people have the opportunity to ask big questions about faith and life. It’s also an environment in which people make life-ling friends and encounter Jesus in a deeply person, life-changing way.
We have three new Alpha courses starting in two weeks’ time – all aimed at different demographics.
- On Monday 12th July, we have a daytime Alpha starting at 10am in the OLR Parish Centre which is aimed at existing parishioners
- On Tuesday 13th July, a 6pm Alpha will start in the Parish Centre aimed more at people with questions about Christianity and their faith. Please invite a friend or family member and consider participating with them in this opportunity.
- Also on Tuesday 13th July at 6pm, we have a Young Adults’ Alpha starting at Kathryn, our Young Adult coordinator’s King St. apartment.
The growth and future health of our parish depends upon us inviting others into faith experiences and also opening ourselves up to investing in our faith journey. If you would like to know more or register, please email Jacinta Elks, our parish Alpha coordinator, at [email protected]
