Upcoming Feast Day Masses at Our Lady of the Rosary
On Saturday, 8th August, we celebrate the Solemnity of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, Australia's first canonised saint. Her life of faith, service, and sacrifice continues to witness to God's presence and action in the world.
One week later, on Saturday, 15th August, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a Holy Day of Obligation. In the Assumption, we are reminded of the hope of our own resurrection and the glory God desires to share with us.
A special 9:00am Solemnity Mass will be celebrated at OLR on both days. We especially invite you to join us for the Assumption as we celebrate with our parish patroness, Our Lady of the Rosary, and ask for the intercession of Mary and St Mary of the Cross MacKillop.
These Masses will replace the usual 9:00am Adoration and Benediction. The Sacrament of Reconciliation will be available from 8:00am before each Mass.

15th August | Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary | 8am Reconciliation | 9am Mass
Ignite Carwash
Our annual Ignite Car Wash & BBQ is coming up on Sunday, 9th August, at Our Lady of the Rosary Church. Our Youth Group will soon be travelling to Ignite Conference 2026 in Brisbane, and we are coming together as a parish to help make this possible.
Ignite gives young Catholics the opportunity to encounter Jesus alongside thousands of others from across Australia through talks, worship, the sacraments, prayer, and fellowship. By supporting our youth, we live out our parish mission to be a vibrant community that actively accompanies people to encounter Jesus.
Cars will be washed from 7:00am–12:00pm for just $20 per vehicle, with a sausage sizzle after both the 7:30am and 9:30am Masses. All funds raised will go towards helping our Youth Group attend Ignite. Please continue to pray for them as they prepare for this experience.
If you are able to volunteer to help with the BBQ or car washing, please contact the Youth Team at cp.youthandyoungadults@bne.catholic.net.au.
Ignite Conference
Ignite Conference is not just for the youth. We want to invite you to consider joining our parish adult delegation to Ignite Conference 2026. This is an opportunity for encounter and discovery.
Ignite Conference is a vibrant, faith‑filled gathering in Brisbane from 24–27 September. The conference brings together people of all ages from across Australia who are passionate about growing the Church and encountering Jesus in a fresh way.
While Ignite has long impacted our young people, it offered a rich and inspiring experience for the adults that joined us last year. The Conference offers engaging speakers and workshops, worship, dynamic celebration of the sacraments and community with Catholics from across the nation. Please contact the office if you would like to find out more details regarding costs, accommodation and registration.
RCIA
RCIA is for adults interested in becoming Catholic, receiving the Sacraments, or learning more about the Catholic faith. The next RCIA journey begins in September. Those considering RCIA are encouraged to attend Alpha, which begins on 18 July (see below).
To express your interest in RCIA, please contact the Parish and fill out the enrolment form HERE
World Day For Grandparents & Elderly
On the weekend of 25–26th July, our parish will celebrate the World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly at all Masses. Established by Pope Francis in 2021, this day recognises the important role that grandparents and older members of our community play in passing on the faith through their love, wisdom, prayer, and example.
This year's theme, "I will never forget you" (Isaiah 49:15), reminds us of God's enduring love and invites us to give thanks for the gift of our grandparents and elderly parishioners. We also hope to mark the occasion by gathering together as a parish community following Mass.
National Vocation Awareness Week
National Vocation Awareness Week will be observed from 2nd–9th August 2026. This week invites the whole Church to pray for vocations and to reflect on how God may be calling each of us to live out our vocation, whether through marriage, the single life, priesthood, or consecrated life. Please also pray for those discerning their vocation, for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life, for our priests and all those who already serve the Church.
A special evening prayer event, Transfiguration, will be held at the Cathedral of St Stephen on Thursday, 6 August, beginning at 5:30pm with Solemn Vespers and a Holy Hour, presided over by Archbishop Shane Mackinlay. Refreshments and a Vocations Expo will follow in the Hanly Room.
