Baptism

The Sacrament of Baptism is the first Sacrament of Initiation. It involves ritual washing with water. Water is commonly known as a symbol of life and cleansing – that’s what it means in Baptism too.

Confirmation

While Baptism is the gateway into the Catholic faith, the Sacrament of Confirmation affirms your or your child’s commitment to the faith and renews the baptismal promises before First Holy Communion.

First Holy Communion

Holy Communion, or Eucharist, is the last Sacrament of Initiation and often takes place following the Sacrament of Confirmation. The first time you receive Eucharist completes your initiation into the Church.

Reconciliation

Everyone occasionally does things they regret or perhaps know they shouldn’t have done, and that’s why the Sacrament of Reconciliation is so important. Commonly called Confession, the Sacrament of Reconciliation is all about healing.

Anointing of the Sick

If a Catholic is very ill, they or their family may ask a priest to anoint you with oil in a ritual of healing called Anointing of the Sick.

Marriage

Catholics believe that God wants to be present with us as we live out our vocation in life, whether that be as a single person, a priest, member of a religious order, or as a married person.

Holy Orders

Every Catholic Sacrament requires the presence of an ordained man in one way or another. But how are deacons, priests or bishops appointed to these special roles? Catholic deacons, priests and bishops receive their authority through the Sacrament of Holy Orders.
