Meet Apollo Gomez
How long have you been a parishioner?
For about 23 years (since I arrived on the Coast in 2000), but I have been more active and helping out in the church in the last ten years.
Where is your place of worship?
9:30am Sunday Mass at OLR church and/or 5pm Sunday Mass at Unity College
What is your favourite prayer/devotion?
My favourite prayer/devotion is the Mass. Listening to the readings and the Homily; singing hymns and songs; praying and thanking God and being able to be with my family and the community. It strengthens my faith and my resolve within.
How do you like to love out your faith?
By praying and having ‘quiet time’ with God. By providing acts of service/ministry/helping others – to do my best to live by His actions and words.
What is your experience of God’s love?
I experience God’s love everyday. I feel His love flows from my family and friends and even strangers. Most recently, I survived a very serious car accident. I knew I wasn’t alone and God was with me throughout the whole ordeal. The support and loved my family and I have received no doubt emanates from God’s love.
What do you most enjoy about being a part of the parish community?
Having a sense of belonging, being able to connect with diverse groups of people is important to grow, learn and appreciate life.
Faithful Servants is a regular feature of the ever-present ‘servants of the faith’ across our local parish community.
Please email Bernadette Bain, if you would like to nominate someone for this feature.
