Meet Elaine Potter

How long have you been a parishioner?

I’ve been a parishioner at OLR since my husband and I retired in Caloundra four years ago.

Where is your place of worship?

My regular place of Worship is at Our Lady of the Rosary Church – usually attending the 5.30pm Vigil Mass and weekly morning Mass.

What is your favourite prayer/devotion?

My favourite prayer and devotion is to the Holy Spirit  (Holy Spirit, breathe on me); and also the Rosary to OUR BLESSED LADY; as well as Catechism in a Year with Mike Schmitz – the everyday podcast for a year was amazing!

Would you like to share your experience of God’s love?

There are many ways and times I feel God’s love, but never more than when I am sharing time with my family and friends.

What is your most important practice in ‘living your faith’ as a disciple?

Being one of Christ’s disciples shows me how to look forward each day, whether it is playing with the OLR Cards Group, swimming at the pool or going for a walk. Just greeting people with a smile or saying ‘hello’ and receiving a response is a real blessing!

What do you most enjoy about being a part of the parish community?

Being part of the parish community at OLR makes me feel “at home”. I really enjoy the opportunities across the parish to grow in our faith, and when our volunteers put their hands up and say yes. I’m so proud to be committed to the growth of OLR and our strategic Plan and mission statement: (Our Mission is to be a vibrant community that actively accompanies people to encounter Jesus.)

ALPHA is another opportunity in the parish that helps us along our faith journey. A must for any parish, is a Prayer & Friendship group, similar to what we have here at OLR. Thank God for all these wonderful women, who attend each week. My faith has always been a very important part of my life, but never no more than listening to the Word of God when our four wonderful priests, all with different personalities, preach from their hearts bringing God’s people to a relationship with Jesus Christ.

What are you most proud of about your parish involvement, contribution & support of our community?

For all the people in the parish who have guided and trained me to get me here today I say, GOD BLESS AND THANK YOU!

Faithful Servants is a regular feature of the ever-present ‘servants of the faith’ across our local parish community.

Please email Bernadette Bain, if you would like to nominate someone for this feature.
