RCIA Congratulations!

Last Sunday, 11 June, we received and welcomed six new brothers and sisters into the Catholic family. We thank Bishop Brian Heenan, who administered the sacraments to them. Special thanks to the RCIA team and all those who helped in their faith formation. God bless you all as we continue to pray for them, Fr Ejikeme.

Are you musically gifted?

Can you play the piano, organ, guitar or any other instrument that could lead and accompany music ministry at Mass? This is a fantastic opportunity to put the “Yes Prayer” into action. Please email the office [email protected] or call 07 5430 9390 with your contact details and a member of the Worship Ministry Leadership Team will be in touch.

Thank you for your ministry.

Last Chance to assist Homelessness in our backyard

Friends, we have raised over $2500 for homelessness in our home, the Sunshine Coast! Thank you for the amazing generosity you have demonstrated to those who need it most!!
If you are able, please either click the link here to donate now or place a clearly marked envelope in the collection basket to donate to this worthy cause.

Fr Josh, together with Dan McShea (pictured left), Principal of Unity College and Michael Stewart (center), Principal of OLR Primary School, will once again ‘rough’ the cold winter this Thursday night 22 June. They’re sleeping out with other community leaders at Maroochydore Beach to raise money for people experiencing homelessness and raise awareness of their plight. Homelessness can affect anyone – women, men, and even children. The good news though is that together, we can make a significant difference!

Containers for Change

The need for stewardship or care for our environment has never been greater. In 2015, Pope Francis published a public letter titled Laudato Si’ – Care for Our Common Home. As part of our Parish’s support for this program, and to contribute to more regenerative environmental solutions, we are launching a new Parish-wide “Containers for Change” initiative.

All Church Centres will be asked to participate, but we are also asking you as parishioners to join us. When returning your own recyclable cans and bottles to a refund station, we ask that you consider using the Parish Containers for Change ‘ID’. When lodging your return at the refund station terminal you would simply select the ‘Scheme ID’ option then enter the Parish ID: C11072500. Your contribution, and the money generated from your returns, will then go towards supporting the Parish, with funding directed to our Kingdom Youth and Service Outreach ministries. This initiative will not only help the environment, but also help grow our local youth and service ministries.

Please note the Parish Containers for Change initiative is separate to any being run by Catholic schools in the area. By using the Parish Scheme ID above, your funds will be directed to the Church-run initiatives. For more information on how you can be involved and lodge a return or add the Parishscheme ID in the containers for change mobile App please visit our website

Celebrating Confirmation in our parish

On Friday 9 June, 64 children, along with their families, celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation. The celebration of the second Sacrament of Initiation was the culmination of a number of weeks of gathering , learning and journeying together – families, teachers, catechists and priests. We are grateful for the dedication of the teaching team: Justine Ashworth, Sarah Culpitt and Julie Gerhardt – who is the Children & Families Ministry Leader in our parish. Your dedication and passion in accompanying all 64 children along the way is a terrific example of living out our Parish Mission: to be a vibrant community that actively accompanies people to encounter Jesus. Special thanks, once again, to Bishop Brian – the faithful servant that he is – for presiding at the 4.00pm and 6.00pm celebrations of Confirmation. This wonderful celebration was accompanied by Mrs Fran Griffin, music teacher at OLR Primary School, and a number of OLR students who offered their time and talent in leading the music – thank you very much!!
