Our Lady of the Rosary Feast Day – Saturday 7 October

Fr Josh refers to Saint Paul’s First Letter of to the Corinthians to remind us that while we are made up of many parts, we are the one Body of Christ and we can celebrate our diverse and unique gifts on the special Feast Day of Our Lady of the Rosary, our parish patronage, in a beautiful whole-of-parish event.

First Saturday morning Devotion – cancelled

First Saturday morning Devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary rosary is cancelled due to OLR Feast Day celebrations. There will be a Rosary in the OLR Church at 4.00pm for those who cannot attend the procession.

Service and Outreach

“This ministry will facilitate opportunities for those within the community to be the hands and feet of Jesus to people in need.”

Last Sunday we were blessed with water gathered from throughout the diocese which had been blessed by Archbishop Mark as part of the Season of Creation 2023 Mass. On the last day of Season of Creation 2023 (Wednesday 4 October), Pope Francis published a new Apostolic Exhortation, “Laudate Deum” as a follow-up to his Encyclical, “Laudato Si’ – On Care for Our Common Home.”
In the lead up to this year’s Season of Creation, Pope Francis stated, “It is necessary to stand with the victims of environmental and climate injustice, striving to end the senseless war on our common home which is a terrible world war. I urge all of you to work and pray for it to abound with life once again.” The process of facilitating the coordination of all the current volunteers across all of our communities via an online form continues.
We have trialled this process with our leadership teams and the next step is to start with the information going to Our Lady of the Rosary Masses and then to eventually flow out to all the communities. L.Y.N. (Love Your Neighbour) will be ongoing with the Year 12 students at Unity College to cook meals which can be frozen and given to those in need.
We have distributed some of these to families in need in the Unity College and OLR communities and to the St Vincent de Paul groups. We have meals in various freezers so if you know of anyone in need, please contact me

Ignite Conference

From September 21 – 24, we took an incredible group of 43 youth, young adults, and parishioners from our parish, Maroochydore, and Nambour to the Ignite Conference at St Laurence’s College, Brisbane. It was a truly transformative time through explosive rallies, inspirational talks and workshops, and the celebration of the Sacraments. Some of our students experienced the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the very first time, made friends with other young people who were exploring the faith, and felt the presence of God through praise and worship. The night of Adoration was the most talked about experience within the group, with so many of our students feeling their hearts transformed in the presence of Jesus. Year 11 student Charlie, who was one of the ten teenagers who journeyed through the RCIT program last year, said: “From Adoration to all the rallies, it was by far the most transformative week of my life.”

We now have a number of these students considering the Sacramental program this year. Thank you so much to our wonderful parish community for all the support given to ensure we could take a group this year.

Thank you for your donations, kind words, prayers, time, and efforts. There was so much grace given to us throughout the weekend, and I am still feeling this grace and seeing these fruits now and am so happy to share them with you. The Spirit is moving in our youth in Caloundra!

Catholic Mission – please support people of Timor-Leste

With Timor-Leste’s fragile infrastructure, reliance on local health practices, and limited
access to medical care, many health conditions only worsen, and sadly
can result in death.

Next week Catholic Mission will offer you the opportunity to partner with the
Sr Carolina and the Salesian Sisters in Venilale, Timor-Leste, where your gift can
help continue a life-saving program to help address this reality.
We hope you will take next week’s opportunity to make an incredible
impact for those in need.

Life-giving work, prayers and your generosity are crucial in ensuring this Catholic Mission program can continue.

Thank you Gwen Meldon!

Every now and then, parishioners retire from ministries in which they have served for many years; this is both a sadness and opportunity to express gratitude. Gwen Meldon has been faithfully leading worship by playing the organ at the 6.30am Sunday OLR Mass for 30 years. We sincerely thank you, Gwen, for your years of service, and wish you all the best as you move closer to your daughters in the Hinterland. You will be missed!

Well done, good and faithful servant (Mt 25:23).

Kingdom Kids

Last Friday, our parish facilitated a school holiday program for primary school aged children.

The theme of the day was: “Actions speak louder than words.” The youngsters enjoyed playing games, learning about the parable of the two sons, singing songs with actions, colouring in rocks, sitting in quite prayer and moulding a clay cross to take home. Thank you to the Youth and Young Adults leaders who assisted in the day too.

We hope to continue to hold events like this each holidays so watch this space!

Blessings, Felicity, Julie and Fr Gerard Children and Families Ministry
