Meet Trisha Hyde

How long have you been a parishioner?

It will be four years in December.

Where is your place of worship?

Our Lady of the Rosary Church, and occasionally Unity College.

What is your favourite prayer/devotion?

I love the Gloria, but always say Anima Christ (Soul of Christ) and the Peace Prayer of St Francis before Mass, as well as our daily bespoke prayers including the parish prayers.

How do you like to love out your faith?

We joined the parish community just before COVID hit. After weeks of lockdown and not being able to attend Mass, I decided to join the first Alpha course in July 2020. I’ve been involved with Alpha since then, either as an Intercessor, helper or leader, and I currently manage Alpha communications to intercessors and participants. I am also involved with the Ladies Group where I forward prayer request to members. I also enjoy attending Art Group with Jude and Bible Studies with Caroline, as well as listening to the “Bible in a Year”.

What is your experience of God’s love?

I have had a few extraordinary experiences of God’s love throughout my life. One is experiencing emotional healing after thanking God for the bad things that happen not just the good.

At the Holy Spirit Retreat Day when I was an Alpha participant, I experienced a profound manifestation of God’s love in prayer. I realised that the comfort I felt in times of mourning or stress was the Holy Spirit at work.

A couple of weeks ago having intended to go to reconciliation for some weeks, I felt compelled to go. That day was a shared Feast day for St Simon and St Jude. There was a particular circumstance where I needed to pray to St Jude to intercede for someone. It wasn’t until a few days later that I discovered how much those prayers were needed.

What do you most enjoy about being a part of the parish community?

I enjoy the caring nature of the parish community. I have witnessed first hand the growth of community and graces within the Parish after attending Alpha in 2020. I highly recommend it and encourage everyone to come along and participate in upcoming courses.  We don’t call the Ladies Group the Tuesday Hug Group for nothing.  It nourishes our bodies and souls.  Jude’s Art Group has been another joy for me, allowing for some creativity in my life.  I have also learnt much through attending Bible Studies.  We are truly blessed to be part of such a dynamic, friendly, spiritual Parish.

In lots of little ways, I say  “Yes”.
