Catholic Mission: World Mission Sunday

Sunday, 18 October marks 100 years since Pope Pius XI established World Mission Sunday. This year’s theme, “One in Christ, united in mission”, chosen by Pope Leo XIV, calls the Church to share Christ’s love.

In rural Malawi, children face barriers to education. Yamikani, a young boy with a physical disability, walks several kilometres each day to school. Distance, hunger and limited resources make learning difficult, especially for families still rebuilding after floods and cyclones.

The Church in Malawi is working with local communities to build St Peter’s Nyamikuta Primary School in Kampira. Coordinated by Fr Matthew Semba, Director of Social Services for the Diocese of Chikwawa, the project will bring education closer to children, providing classrooms, nutritious meals and essential school supplies. Trees will also help protect the community from extreme weather.

Through prayer and generosity, we can stand alongside communities in Malawi and support the Church’s mission. You can join the mission by donating HERE. Your support helps Catholic Mission work alongside local communities to provide children and families with opportunities to build a better future.

To learn more about this project, Catholic Mission and Caloundra Parish welcome Fr Matthew Semba from Malawi, who will be saying Mass 9:00am at OLR on Monday, 26 October, followed by a presentation from Fr Matthew, who will be sharing his inspiring visions of “Growing Futures”. Morning tea at 10:00am kindly sponsored by Holy Cross Funerals, all are welcome. Please click HERE to register.

Archbishop Mark’s Visit

Our parish is delighted to welcome Archbishop Mark Coleridge, who will celebrate the 9:30 am Mass on Sunday, 25 October, at the OLR church.

This will be a special opportunity to gather as a community of faith, give thanks to God, and welcome Archbishop Coleridge, whose leadership and pastoral care have meant so much to the Church in Brisbane. As we gather around the Lord’s table, we will pray for our parish, our Archdiocese, and all who serve the Church.

During his visit, Archbishop Coleridge will meet with parishioners and introduce his recent autobiography. We look forward to hearing more about his journey of faith and ministry. His visit will also give us an opportunity to greet him personally and express our gratitude for his many years of service to the archdiocese.

Please invite your family and friends to come along and share this special morning of prayer, conversation, and fellowship with our parish family.

All Souls Day Mass

All parishioners, families and friends are warmly invited to join us for All Souls’ Day Mass at 9:00 am on Monday, 2 November, at OLR Church. Together, we will pray for our departed loved ones and all the faithful departed, entrusting them to God’s mercy and love.

This special celebration offers an opportunity to remember those who have died, give thanks for their lives, and find comfort in our shared faith in the resurrection. Whether you are grieving a recent loss or remembering someone who died years ago, come and unite with our parish community in prayer and hope, trusting in Christ’s promise of eternal life.

Parish Retreat Weekend

We invite all parishioners to join us on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 November for our Parish Retreat Weekend, with two days set aside for prayer, worship and time together as a parish community. Both days will be held at Our Lady of the Rosary.

We’re delighted to welcome guest speakers Pat and Kym Keady. Pat is a Catholic renewal leader, speaker, songwriter and author, while Kym is the Executive Director of Ignite Youth and a senior leader at Emmanuel City.

Garden & Grounds Volunteers

The Parish are seeking additional helpers to support the Garden and Grounds Maintenance team at Our Lady of the Rosary Church. Tasks include hedging, whipper snipping, general gardening, and light grounds upkeep around the church.

If you’re able to lend a hand, even occasionally, we’d be very grateful. Please email cp.serviceandoutreach@bne.catholic.net.au or contact the Parish office for more information.

A Year of Yes Prayer

Today and every day I say Yes to you O Lord.
In the same way that Mary said yes to your invitation, I say Yes to your Son’s presence in my life.
May my yes, by the power of your Holy Spirit, allow you to use all the talents, skills and gifts you have given me for the purpose of building up Your Body in our community.
We make this prayer through Christ our Lord. Amen.
