Faith and Formation Ministry Update – ALPHA

It is with gratitude, mixed with a tinge of sadness, that we say goodbye to our current season of Alpha. This coming Tuesday is the final official week of gathering for our current group of participants.  Alpha is a truly unique, fun, beautiful experience. Over 10 weeks strangers become friends and friends become family.  As a previous participant, host and helper at Alpha it is truly inspirational to witness yourself and those in the group make the journey from unsure and sometimes cynical to open and faith filled and hungry to experience Jesus.  As you can see the group have been engaged across the time. We have had some laughs and shared some heartfelt stories and thoughts with each other along the way.

As our year rolls forward the Faith and Formation team are getting ready to welcome our new RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) Candidates into a modified Alpha program to begin their process of learning and discernment to become Catholics. As these new and prospective members of our church family journey we ask that you pray for them and the RCIA team as we journey with them.  Both Alpha and RCIA represent the living out of the primary call of Jesus to His church – to evangelise.  In these endeavours we are bringing people, beloved children of the Father into the family of God by proclaiming and bringing people into the Kingdom of God through Baptising and the sacraments of initiation. (Matt 28:16-20).

In the coming weeks if you feel drawn to begin a deeper engagement with our commission from Jesus to bring the good news to others, I challenge you to respond to this call. We have new seasons of Alpha starting in October this year – intentionally put the time aside and contact the office to put your name on a waitlist for the next Alpha.  You might consider accompanying one of our new candidates who need someone to walk alongside them. Or you may even wish to participate in Alpha along with our RCIA candidates.  If you want to know more about any of these opportunities, you can email or call the office – caloundra@bne.catholic.net.au and they will put you in touch with our team.
