Laudato Si’ Week
Service Outreach has just completed a very full and grace filled fortnight. This year, Laudato Si’ Week providentially aligned with the period between Ascension and Pentecost in the Jubilee Year of St Francis. Across the parish, Archbishop Shane’s Laudato Si’ message was prominently displayed on banners at Caloundra, Landsborough and Maleny churches, as well as at Notre Dame College and Unity College. The newly approved Mass for the Care of Creation was celebrated three times, including a beautiful liturgy at the Beerwah Bush Chapel. Bishop James Foley encouraged the fifty people gathered to recognise the presence of God in the surrounding bush and birdlife – an inspiring setting for prayer. We also continue to see strong support for our Containers for Change and aluminium medical blister pack recycling programs, a practical sign of our community’s commitment to caring for creation.

Reconciliation Week
During Reconciliation Week, our RAP team met to continue planning for our parish Reconciliation Action Plan. Parishioners and students from Our Lady of the Rosary School also joined the Aunty Betty Memorial Walk at Dicky Beach – a vibrant cultural celebration featuring dance, music, and a guided walk with the Traditional Custodians of Gubbi Gubbi Country. It was a meaningful opportunity to deepen our connection with local Indigenous heritage and to walk together in the spirit of reconciliation.

Community Cooking
Our Community Cooking initiative continues to grow. Alongside our partnership with Unity College Hospitality School and the Uniting Church, we are now opening opportunities for parishioners to cook from home and donate meals to our Food Bank for those in need. Home cooks will complete a simple food safety process and training through the parish. If you’d like to be part of this new initiative, please contact us using the email address below.

Outreach
Our Parish Outreach activities continue to support those in need, with Share a Meal providing home cooked meals on Thursday evenings and the Community Outreach BBQ with Rosies serving on Friday nights. Both initiatives offer food and meaningful connection to those in our community who need it most. We’re always grateful for additional volunteers to help sustain this work, so please reach out if you’d like to join the team

Church Transportation
We are currently planning a trial transportation service for Mass, running once a month for the Sunday 9:30am Mass. The service will use the Unity College mini van. We are now seeking expressions of interest from parishioners who would like to use the service or who know someone who may benefit from it. Please note that the van is not equipped for disabled access, so a minimum level of mobility is required. Our team will speak with parishioners individually to ensure the service is suitable for their needs. If you would be willing to volunteer as a driver, we would also love to hear from you.
