Ministry Update – Community Life

It’s been a busy month for our team. Hospitality continues to be the heartbeat of our parish life. Whether after weekend Masses, at funerals, or during special parish events, it creates opportunities for people to connect, build friendships, and feel part of our parish community.

Open House:
This was a joyful day showcasing OLR’s mission and of renewal taking place within our parish. Our Welcomers ensured guests felt at home and the Hospitality team provided a delicious morning tea and BBQ lunch, made possible through the generous sponsorship of Holy Cross Funerals. Thanks to them and volunteers who helped make this day successful.

Encounter Night:
Encounter Night brought youth and adults together. Whilst our youth gathered for fun and games, adults gathered for drinks and nibbles before all joining together for spiritual enrichment, creating a powerful evening of connection. There was an inspirational testimony of God’s goodness, adoration and an opportunity to receive prayer from our prayer teams. This was another night full of Gods power and people encountering the love of God.

Connections also extended into Hinterland parishes where friendship and faith were celebrated in memorable ways.

Seniors’ Event:
Senior’s gathered for Mass in the beautiful Beerwah Bush Chapel, surrounded by nature and local friends. Bishop James Foley presided at the Mass for Care and Creation, with readings and prayers reflecting our shared commitment to caring for the environment. A sumptuous morning tea followed, with the group hoping this will become a regular outing.

Maleny Feast Day:
Members of our team joined the Maleny community for their feast day celebration, bringing a special cake to mark the occasion and share in the joy of parish life beyond our own church walls.

Care & Compassion:
Care and Compassion is a new and vital ministry, walking alongside and supporting people experiencing grief, loneliness, illness or life transitions. All are invited to Morning Tea – 3rd Friday each month following 9:00am Mass, with Friday 17th July being the next.

From welcoming new faces to supporting parish events and walking alongside those in need, our Community Life Ministry continues to help people feel connected and at home in our parish. Thank you to everyone who generously gives their time to this important work.
