FATHER’S DAY CELEBRATIONS!

Last weekend we celebrated Father’s Day, and what a wonderful occasion it was! Thank you to all fathers, grandfathers, and father figures in our parish and beyond. May God bless you for the love, strength, and guidance you share each day.

Safeguarding Sunday – 14th September

This Sunday 14th September is Safeguarding Sunday, a day when we pause to focus on our responsibility to protect and care for those who are vulnerable. In the Bible, we find a clear and strong message about justice, compassion, and speaking up for those who cannot speak for themselves. We are called to be a safe, welcoming and hope-filled church. In our everyday lives, let’s be mindful of those around us who are vulnerable or marginalised. Who are the “silent” ones in our society, the ones without a voice? Today, God may be calling you to stand up for them. Whether it’s through prayer, support, or direct action, we are invited to participate in God’s work of justice.

An Invitation to Serve: Funeral Sacristan Ministry

Every funeral we celebrate in our parish is an opportunity to accompany grieving families, surround them with love, and commend their loved ones into God’s eternal care. Behind the scenes, this sacred ministry is supported by our funeral sacristans—generous parishioners who prepare the church, set up the sacred vessels, and ensure that everything runs smoothly during the Funeral Mass or Liturgy.

At present, we are blessed with two dedicated funeral sacristans who faithfully carry out this important role. With the number of funerals in our parish, however, and to provide support when someone is away or when several funerals occur in a short time, we are seeking to welcome an additional person into this ministry.

Becoming a funeral sacristan is not about having special skills but about having a servant’s heart—someone who is prayerful, reliable, and willing to walk gently with families during a tender time of grief. Training and ongoing support will be provided. If you feel the Holy Spirit stirring your heart to serve in this way, or if you would like to know more about what’s involved, please contact the parish office on 5430 9390 or email ca*******@**************et.au
Together, we can continue to care for families with dignity, compassion, and faith.

A Year of Engagement

Lord God, I say yes to your will for me:

To live out my baptism in obedience to you.

As a member of our parish,

I commit myself to your mission of invitation:

To be vibrant like your Son, to extend myself in charity,

and to actively accompany people to encounter Jesus.

Who lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen.
