World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly – 26/27 July
In 2021, Pope Francis instituted a new annual celebration in our Catholic calendar: the World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly. The theme for the 2025 celebration is “Blessed are those who have not lost hope,” taken from the Book of Sirach (Sir 14:2). This theme invites us to reflect on the elderly as a vital source of wisdom and hope within our families and communities.
This special day is celebrated on the fourth Sunday in July, near the Feast of Saints Joachim and Anne, the grandparents of Jesus. It is a meaningful opportunity not only to honour the contributions of older generations but also to foster a spirit of connection and hope across all ages.
We are encouraged to recognise the invaluable wisdom and lived experience of the elderly, and to invite younger generations to engage with, learn from, and celebrate them. Families of all generations—grandchildren, children, grandparents, and even great-grandparents—are warmly invited to gather together for the celebration of the Eucharist at any parish Mass next weekend, 26/27 July.
Volunteer Role: Worship Ministry Leader
Are you passionate about worship and eager to lead others in encountering Jesus through liturgy? Our Parish is seeking a volunteer Worship Ministry Leader to help animate and coordinate the liturgical life of our multi-site parish. Guided by our mission “to be a vibrant community that actively accompanies people to encounter Jesus,” this role invites someone with leadership gifts and a heart for worship to lead a small existing team of volunteers. If you’re ready to make a meaningful contribution to our parish’s spiritual renewal, please contact Fr Josh through the parish office to learn more.
Invitation to Prayer Team Information & Training
Saturday 2nd August | 10:30am | Egan Room
Have you ever felt called to pray with others? We’re inviting all parishioners to take part in Prayer Team Training as we prepare to launch a new Post-Mass Prayer Ministry in our parish.
This ministry will begin as a pilot program at OLR Church, but is intended to grow across all our communities. We’re looking for people who are open, compassionate, and willing to pray with others in a simple, Spirit-led way after Mass.
Come along to the training on Saturday 2nd August at 10:30am in the Egan Room to learn more, grow in confidence, and discern if this might be a way you can serve. All are welcome — no experience necessary, just an open heart. If you’re interested but unable to attend, or would like to know more, please contact the parish office and we will organise other options. Let’s grow a culture of prayer, hope, and healing in our parish — together.

You’re Invited to Parish Summit Day – “Curiosity to Encounter”
Parish Summit Day
Saturday 23rd August | 8:30am – 3:30pm | Our Lady of the Rosary Church, Caloundra
Morning tea and lunch provided
You are warmly invited to our Parish Summit Day—a day for everyone in our parish to come together for renewal, reflection, and connection. This year’s theme, “Curiosity to Encounter”, invites us to move from faithful practice to personal transformation. We’ll explore how a flicker of curiosity can become a deep
encounter with Christ. It’s a chance to reflect not only on what we do as Catholics, but on what God is doing in us—and how we might respond with joy and openness. The day will be filled with inspiring input, rich
conversation, shared prayer, and a renewed sense of where God is calling us as a parish community.
Whether you’re actively involved or simply seeking space to reconnect with your faith, this day is for you.
Come and be part of something life-giving. Come and be renewed. Register now by clicking HERE.
Congratulations!
Congratulations to our very own parishioner and Principal of Notre Dame College, Mr Dan McShea, for being awarded the Spirit of Catholic Education by Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE) this past week. Dan was nominated alongside other educators and staff members within BCE for his wonderful contribution to the life of his school community. We are proud to call Dan, who, with his family, worships at 5pm Notre Dame and 9.30am OLR Masses, one of our own. Congratulations Dan!
Pilgrams of Hope – A United Celebration for Catholic Education Week
In a beautiful expression of unity and faith, Unity College, Notre Dame College, and Our Lady of the Rosary School will come together to celebrate Catholic Education Week (CEW) with a meaningful pilgrimage from Shelly Beach to Our Lady of the Rosary Church. This shared journey will culminate in a Mass attended by students and staff from all three schools.
This year’s CEW theme, Pilgrims of Hope, resonates deeply with the 2025 Jubilee Year theme and reminds us of the enduring power of hope—hope that transcends boundaries, inspires action, and brings communities together. As pilgrims walking side by side, we reflect on our shared mission to nurture faith, learning, and compassion in our schools.
To mark this special occasion, a scallop shell design has been added to our event materials. Traditionally associated with pilgrimage, the shell symbolises our spiritual journey and the unity of purpose that guides us. It serves as a visual reminder of our commitment to walk together in faith and hope.
This pilgrimage is more than a walk—it is a celebration of our Catholic identity, a moment of reflection, and a powerful testament to the strength of our parish school community. We look forward to sharing this sacred experience and continuing our journey as Pilgrims of Hope.

A Year of Engagement
Lord God, I say yes to your will for me:
To live out my baptism in obedience to you.
As a member of our parish,
I commit myself to your mission of invitation:
To be vibrant like your Son, to extend myself in charity,
and to actively accompany people to encounter Jesus.
Who lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen
